hi, if i am to get a laptop within 35-40K which one could be the best buy? my basic criteria are: basic criteria: 2.2Ghz core2Duo, 500 GB HDD, 4 GD RAM. Also any feedbacks on the ACER models ? heard they are the good for the low end laptops but what are the cons?? What about Lenovo 550 G?
At this range u can go for Sony Vaio E-series or Dell Inspiron.You can get a better config. in terms of the processor than you've mentioned at about 38-39k.(core i3 or an i5 processor)
Have no clue regarding Lennovo laptops.Dell is better than Acer in terms of Service and Sony in terms of looks and performance.But if you are desperate for even better config. at this range you can go for Acer .
Rest its your wish.Just browse through the previous 7-8 pages of the forum and you'll find the models that i've mentioned.
Ok Guys, I have an HP laptop which I bought from US. The orignal value was $2000 but I got a $500 discount. So, I end up paying $1613 including tax. Its has 2.8GHZ processor. Its got 3gb Ram. 250gb HDD. LED screen. MOREOVER, IT HAS ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE PROTECTION. I can sell it for somewhere around Rs 35,000. PM ME, if interested. I stay in Delhi btw.

I bought it on 15th Sept 2008. It has 2 year accidental damage protection till 15th sept 2010.
To your query....and generally......DO NOT BUY DELL.... they have no after sales services once ur warranty expires..... I learnt it the hard way...i already have two of them:banghead:!! recently my laptop went out of warranty and its dvd drive went dead...now they are not changing it even on a paid basis....they say the only way of getting a dell laptop repaired beyond its warranty is to get its warranty extended....which costs around Rs 17,000 per year...no parts are available for purchase otherwise.....so be informed about it before making any purchases......

Ok guys, I really think that you guys are wasting your money by buying vaio/hp/dell. If you want a GOOD/FREAKING AMAZING laptop, you should buy MAC 😃 APPLE FOREVER. It is the best thing ive ever bought. Lemme share my experience:
So, I am a huge laptop fan. Nothing goin tht far, I had Dell Inspiron 5500 about 4years back. It was ok bt I wanted a new laptop. I used it for good 1 year. Average laptop. Occational heatups. Switched to HP, had some 15" model, dont remember the exact name. Used it for 1year. Same problem. Huge heating problems. overall avg experience. Now comes the breakthru. I Bought HP pavillion Dv4t 2.8ghz. 3gb ram. kick a** graphic card. Accidental damage protection. Laptop worth 1lac. Got it for 80000rs. BT STILL, I wasnt satisfied. Same heating fkup. 2.8ghz bt still wasnt good enuff for me. Used it for 6mnths. BOUGHT a MACBOOK PRO 😃 Best thing ever. and since then, I AM A HAPPY MAN 😃 its been 1yr and I plan on using my mac for atleast another year unless a new macbook model comes out. So, I highly recommend you guys to buy MACBOOK.
I had never used a mac before and had this mac phobia. Bt, once i bought it, I was in love with it instantly. ENUFF, go ahead and buy it. Btw, if you think that you need windows to do ur MBA stuff, WRONG, mac has a solution for everything.
I guess you are talking about a netbook and not a laptop or notebook. People accustomed to normal desktops, laptops will find it painful. Plus the atom processors are not very fast.

Dear this is not a netbook as it contain a 250GB harddisk. I think it's speed is very nice as most of our work is in office and this notebook is working nicely in MSOffice. One more thing is this laptop is light weight so it is not painful for our shoulder to carry.

Well actually it is a netbook and a large hard disk does not mean that it cant be a netbook and netbooks do support MS office it is just that they cannot handle heavy applications like games and stuff or softwares like solidworks etc...

It is a netbook. He is talking about a config with Intel atom processor & 10" screen. The netbook will slowdown if you try to multitask.
hey guys I am confused between dell inspiron 14r and Acer 4740 both having the same configuration but acer is 4k less than the Dell. What about the acer review(dint get much in this forum about acer) anybody if have an idea please chip in.

(Pls refer detail config here Between the two models, da main difference is da 1 GB extra RAM in Dell (which may not be too observable) and the 9 cell lithium ion battery. However, I feel Sony Vaio's looks, aesthetics and keyboard are much better. But Dell's 9-cell lithium battery is likely to last much longer than Sony's 6-cell, so which one do I go for ?...Also do suggest any other brands/models with similar configurations which I could consider...
hey man ovi u should go for dell.Reasons 1) More RAM. So more speed. 2) Battery back up.For a 9 cell u get around 3.5 hrs where as vaio its less around 2 hrs. 3) Dell can we used bit roughly where as vaio should be used like a flower :o
My advise dont go for looks .Go for performance and Long term use.I believe DELL is decent in that respect for the current config.
For ur config u can check out acer laptop and HP too. But acer also not recommend for long use.They say toshiba is good for real rough use but i dont wanna misguide u 😃

every1 doesnt have the money to buy a mac bro.. so before asking every1 to buy mac as you have 3 mac at home , just ask what our budget is.. definately mac is gr8.. bt as i said due to budget constraint many of us cant buy a single mac(leave alone 3 macs..)..

His budget is 50k and you can get the cheapest mac model in 50k. Moreover, he asked me whether he shud buy 50k pc vs 70k macbook. If he had budget problems, he wudnt have asked me that question. Anyways, I can only recommend, the decision is your depending on your situation. But, MAC is definitely worth a try!! Atleast I am a MAC Addict!! lol
