Hi Frnds, I bought a Dell Studio 14 laptop and got it delivered just yesterday. And it's awesome.
Config: 1) 4 GB RAM 2) 500 GB Hard disk 3) Core 5i processor 4) Win 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) 5) McAfee Antivirus (15 months) 6) Midnight blue colour 7) 1 GB graphics card 9 cell battery 9) 1 yr warranty
Price: Rs 50,000 (exact) only thing missing was a carry case, which I am planning to buy from outside.
regarding the 9 cell battery , i hope its not made the lappy heavy .i've heard it protrudes out and that affects the mobility.Is it true ? how to connect to a dell representative ,i'm trying to find but site is being reconstructed i guess.also Studio 14 pe customization ki option's not coming .
Please clear some of my doubts regarding 32-bit procc v/s 64-bit procc
1. If I buy a laptop with 32-bit OS installed, can I in future load 64-bit Win-7 there?
2. If I buy a laptop with 64-bit OS installed, can I in future load 32-bit Win-7 or XP there?
3. With 64-bit OS , will all the games + softwares run which I have now in 32-bit Vista lappy or vice-versa? I mean are softwares/exe's specific to 32/64 bits ?
@ obdurate, wich model did u buy n frm where?? @ raj, under 30 k , u can go 4 dell vostro (A860,A840 etc) lappy's with a low config 4 processor, ram n Hdd or u can opt 4 Acer lappy's wich giv u loads of features @ highly affordale rates, bt m nt dat sure abt Acer after sales , its nt dat gud i herd.
I brought a DELL inspiron 15 last week with a 60 days MS office trial version. problem is you need to activate it...and i can't figure out how to do this. can't find the 25 digit key they ask for anywhere either..
dude, go to Welcome to Dell Support n search 4 antivirus probs. u need to mention ur TAG no, wich is a 6 or 8 digit at d back of ur lappy. alternately call the dell customer care no, m sure dey'll sort out ur prob.

If your processor is 32 bit you cannot install 64 bit Windows on that. If your processor is 64 bit(it will be if it can support 64 bit Windows), you can install both 32 bit and 64 bit OS. You can run 32 bit exe in 64 bit OS.
Guys does any one know what is the procedure of buying a laptop from amazon? do they deliver it to india?how much are the shipping charges. Because I was planning to buy a $999 macbook which would cost around 45k bucks+shipment from amazon as against buying it from an apple store in delhi and shelling out 53k bucks..please help
I think people are talking of laptops of very high range here. If ur aim is to buy one for working, read on:
My advice: GO for DELL. Others are very far behind. New series is available and DELL Inspiron is a very good series. Range starts frm 32k and that has a pretty gud config.
Haan if u need bettr configs for games, etc then it is a completely diff issue Then go for Graphics card, high boost speaker, etc

evn i've herd abt Heatin probs of dell , bt their after sales is awsome. so don worry evn if u encounter 1.i feel 1 shud go 4 a 2yrs warranty n dat 2 complete cover as dey repalce every part of ur lappy 4 free under it if its damaged or sum prob. as 4 limited hardware wrnty is concernd, evn if its expired ,they do support u thru remote diagnosis.

i completely agree wid u dude. evn m plannin 2 buy 1 within 40 k budget & evn m thinkin of dell (ins 14 R )coz of their superb configs wid gr8 pricing along wid exceptional aftr sales service. d only con i feel is their simple luks & lack of multimedia shortcuts. jus chkd out HP Pavillion DV4 2110TU 2de at a store n ws pretty impressed by it. luks amazing wid damn gud multimedia features & shortcuts n trades 4 arnd 37 k. d guy told me evn HP is kumin out wid extended warranty feature like dell in abt 2-3 weeks . lets wait n c..
