hi guys... m also planning to buy a laptop..but i have my mind on buying d 999$ macbook...can you guys tell me weder is it worthwhile to buy a 44k lappy(gttng it from someone in the usa) for my mba or should our desi jugaadu acer will also do???but then macbook is a macbook and acer/dell/others are not that awesome.....and also one more thing...i am not a fan of watching films on the laptop and play occasionally some games...is a 13 inches screen a bit too small for me??is it VERY small as compared to a 15 inches screen??

Intel HD Graphics is a good enough video card if all u are planning in entertainment department is watching movies and playing basic games, but if u are a gamer or are interested in becoming one, you need a dedicated video card for it like ati radeon 5650 because intel dosent really cut it for high graphics gaming.

it trades 4 arnd 36 k. also i feel Hp lappys r more stylish wid most multi media fn keys whereas as in dell these r absent. again 4 normal MBA purpose , 3 GB ram(evn 2 GB 'll do as its DDR3 wid core i3) & 320 GB HDD wid HD graphics is pretty sufficnt unless u r a hard core gamer. wot i feel is both HP n Dell r almost at par with each other , so choose d 1 dat gives u a better deal in terms of warranty ( as after sales is rily imp feature) n price n accessories.
does HP gives extended warranty like Dell???

i needed a 14 inch dell studio with i7 processor ,4gb ram, 500 gb hard disk and 512 mb gfx card.But sinche 3 4 days the site's giving the following cnfig only for the 15 inch screen.

So jst wanted to know that how heavier is the 15" studio model from the 14" one ? Weight and mobility are the only issue wid me.And yes battery life for bth will be same ya different ?

dude, d dell guys keep on changin configurations every nw n den, so u hav 2 chk out wid d sales represt aftr placing an order.
w.r.2 weight,i guess, 15" r a bit heavier arnd 2.6-2.7 kgs as compared 2 14" wich r arnd 2.3-2.4 kgs. also battery life depends on use. bt basically a 9 cell battrey 'll give more life dan a 6 cell battery bt den again dat'll add on 2 ur lappy's weight.

I have used one, down at the Apple store, and must say, it is uncomparable to anything else.
They say people who use Macs don't go near anything else in their lives, and I see why.
Pros:
>Killer Looks (Undebatable)
>Ease of use (Unbelievably easy to use and intuitive interface)
>Great Softwares (one touch photo uploads, one touch anything in fact)
>Multi tasking capability (As the OS is designed as per the hardware, and not the other way around like in windows, your Macbook will almost never hang, no matter how far you push it.)

Cons:
>Expensive (56,900 for the base version which will cost you 40,000 in normal PC config)
>Have to buy Proprietary softwares(Don't know how easy or difficult downloading from torrent sites is)
>Expensive after sales.(After the included 1 year warranty, extra warranty for the next two years costs 13,000)

IMO though, it is worth the price.
I am actually in talks with the Apple store on Warden Road, Mumbai for the coolest, and most hassle free book in the market currently. The Apple Macbook. Check out the technical specs here: Apple - MacBook - Technical Specifications

The base model, priced at Rs. 56,900 is being discounted by 6% for us students.
However, if I can get 5-6 more people (I already found 2), I can negotiate to about 10-15 % or even more which will be pretty cool.

intel hd graphics is a on processor graphics engine. it is not a seperate card.
but as neo said, it is good enuf for basic games. even if u have ati/nvidia cards, the i series processor first engages on processor hd and overflow to external graphics only on demand.

I dont have the link.. I just customized the lappy at dell website and then did some bargain with the sales executive...
Initial price went somewhere to 54K but I convinced him to bring it to 50K after sacrificing bluetooth stereo headset...

GO for any model except Hp. I have purchased an HP laptop worth 44 k and wat i feel other thn design its a scrap, moreover the position of Fan is weird its really difficult to keep the laptop on ur LAP for a long time.

I wud recommend to look the design of laptop while buying, I have simply trusted the brand and since then iam suffering.
Also I before purchasing a Laptop read the customers reviews that will be very useful.

Guys does any one know what is the procedure of buying a laptop from amazon? do they deliver it to india?how much are the shipping charges. Because I was planning to buy a $999 macbook which would cost around 45k bucks+shipment from amazon as against buying it from an apple store in delhi and shelling out 53k bucks..please help

@ raj, under 30 k , u can go 4 dell vostro (A860,A840 etc) lappy's with a low
config 4 processor, ram n Hdd or u can opt 4 Acer lappy's wich giv u loads of features @ highly affordale rates, bt m nt dat sure abt Acer after sales , its nt dat gud i herd.
