Meanwhile.. someone suggest a good gaming laptop to me....
How is Dell XPS.. I was looking at Alienware as well..but its kinda expensive....
How good is MSI ??
Dell ALienware is a beast definitely worth for gaming :thumbsup:..but its heavy.. and also its for those who love good screen sizes..
If u r going for gaming laptop ..do keep in mind service support..also wld suggest ATI based graphic crads.. Nvidia had some recent heating issues..so do a bit of research on graphic card being employed..

1. Better CPU 2. Better screen 3. Blu-ray combo disc 4. Better wi-fi connectivity
compare the tech-spec yourself. Also I'm not advertising, lol, buy the one which suits you. I'm processor crazy , I wanted core i7 but was not avaiable, I'm a Linux developer, hence I need high processor speed for compiling and virtualization.
Acer 5740G is the best value for money laptops arnd in the market today... also if u dont mind spending a little extra u cld get a sony vaio for arnd 50K whch has d same config as acer but wid a i3 proccy....also vaio has a full hd screen and its looks are awesome
The only dampener for me here is the i3 processor whereas Acer gives i5 for 45k. But yeh there is no doubt that the Sony Vaio displays are best among any brand.
HI Puys, am planning to buy a laptop (this will be my first personal purchase ) though have an Hp-Compac provided by my company. Have to buy in India as part of Edu loan.
My basic requirement is multitasking (extensive ), internet (in all versions like wi fi etc. ) & intranet, very good speed (less hangs) & other basic use like video, games, music etc.
Some key requirements are 1) will be in US for couple of years, need an international warranty 2) need a lightweight laptop for ease of use 3) good memory 4) decent looks
have shortlisted i-5 processor, dell (studio) or sony vaio (ea series), Need help to decide !:lookround:
Hey puys I am planning to buy a netbook, I already have a 15" laptop so the new netbook is only intended for MBA academics.
Which companies netbooks should I prefer, I mean just as in laptops we say that these few companies have good laptops which are the good companies for netbooks?

Dell is offering number of warranty option(1,2,3 year, dell care, dell premium etc). What all types are these? Do these warranty also include software problem?
Do we get cd of windows/macafee(if we buy 36 months subcription) with dell or it is pre loaded? And if we format or windows get corupt how would we restore windows, macafee antivirus, drivers etc?
Sorry guys, too many questions, but I m New to Laptop World
This is a question for people already in a B-school and using a laptop: Whats the minimum battery backup a lappy should have so that one doesnt face too much charging problems?Would 2.5hrs of backup suffice?

Dell care would be just normal support..
I would suggest to take complete cover.. This type of warranty even covers accidental damage.. so whatever part of ur laptop goes awry..dell will replace it free of cost.. and realy have seen this being taken care of in Hostel.. one of my friends whole Motherboard got changed free of cost.. dell is pretty good at their service.. though only one thing i have seen with lower end models..they dont hv sturdy body..in sense body paint started coming out.. it might be coz of poor handling from the side of students..so cant comment with confidence on that
For restoration..all necessary CDs come with the package.. Mc afee u wld get one month trial version only.. rest whatever packages are their.. for all backup CDs are being provided

Yes this would easily suffice.. generally if laptop is needed in class charging points are provided.(thoug it varies from college to college) we also used to carry spike busters so multiple students can access charging points.
Generally with power saver mode on u wld get good battery time.. and one session is of mostly max 1.30 hrs.. u wld definitely wont face any issues with that
I need a laptop for basic MBA academics. I am not a gamer but I love movies. I would like a configuration that is light ( yeah impressed by your choice can smbody reply on it
