Abroad for sure !!

Laptops in US are cheaper compared to India.Again i am not sure abt Dubai duty free air port shopping ..(dood spend some time doing research before buying a lappy.guess in d duty free shops u wld be in a hurry so i wont suggest that )

US wld be the best option to buy a lappy.

I have zeroed down on 2 models
One is Compaq Presario M2002AL and the other one is Acer TM 2304NLC
Both cost almost the same, around Rs 38,000

hey mate nice site for comparing the laptops. but the problem is not all the models are available in india and i have no relatives abroad. so ppl cud u plz suggest some gud laptop. how does AMD Athlon fare as a processor in laptop. i have heard that they are cheaper than the intel processor. i totally detest celeron so plz dont mention it.

my comp is showing every post completely stretched up and so it is difficult to navigate and see the forum.....

i think tht computer queries would have been a more suitable thread for this....but newayz methinks tht this is coz of the resolution...increase ur resolution 1024x768 n things shd be fine

Any idea how is Dell's Inspiron series? How do they fare in comparison to IBM thinkpads? A Dell inspiron 700m costs about 60k in india. How much will it cost in US?

i think dis must b a celeronM processor, dey r providin. b'cuz centrino. is much costlier. but u can easily get a samsung laptop wid celeron processor at around 50-52 thsnd 4m market n dat also wid a fair warnty period. so how bout goin 4 d market option...:)

can any1 please tell me whats the avg battery life for a toshiba 2.7 Ghz celeron...my battery doesnt go more than 70 mins..in low power/brightness screen setting

shud i get my battery changed or this is standard
didnt know where else to ask

dunno abt celeron but i have a toshiba pentium 4 2.8 ghz and the battery lasts for 5 hours.so 70 minutes appears to be too low.i guess a problem with the battery.

i was going through the dell US website the dell inspiron 600m notebook seems to be pretty decent pentium-m 1.80 ghz with 512 mb ram with 24x cd writer/dvd combo and 60 gb hd costs abt 1070 dollars if i were to ask my friend to get this frm the usa it would come to abt Rs 46000 i think that a pretty terrific deal compared to the prices in india. wat say guys.manpreet the dell 700m is decent euf but 1 sore point abt it is that the screen size is just 12 inches in inspiron 600m it is 14 inches.


Well if u are ready to give up on somethings like a wider screen( i want a 15.4" WXGA TRU BRITE SCREEN) then check out the following models.They are some of the nice ones.But they have to be bought in the us and are totally customizable.

TOSHIBA -- SATELLITE M30X
DELL--- INSPIRON 6000 SERIES
IBM --- THINKPAD G41
COMPAQ--- PRESCARIO V4000 SERIES
all of them are good for gaming but if ur a hardcore gamer nothing beats Alienware.check out the website(even if it is only to drool at the configs)

but rite now i have basically decided on the inspiron 6000d or the inspiron 9300 (more expensive but comes with a 256mb geforce 6800 go!!!) so now iam basically waiting for some good dell coupons so that i can get the laptop at a discounted price.



dell 9300 costs 1100 USD and 972 pounds in uk.....any idea how much does it cost in india....

hey rajesh unfortunately dell india doesnt quote any prices on their site, as far as dell 9300 is concerned even in us after all the discounts and coupons are factored in a 1.8 ghz, 512mbram, with 128mb ati x300 comes to about 1300$ tats around 57k Rs(this is after a discount of abt 350$), i seriously doubt wether dell india offers so much discount:whatthat: so in india u might be paying anything around 75-80k. wat is ur usage gonna be? cause inspiron 6000 might be a lil cheaper as it comes with a 15" screen as against a 17' of inspiron 9300.


my usage is mainly browsing,word and other simple applications but the reason i'm going for 9300 is i dunt want to miss out on all the gaming....

how much would the 6000 series cost in india???...also have u considered any other laptops as well???

There sont seem to be plenty of models which are offering good options in india.there is a total dearth of toshiba models.Though i think that there is a good compaq model as well.i think it is v2000 cost about 54k.the features are pretty ok
but upgrading is quite expensive.the webdsite quotes prices though.DO check it out

well i dont know lot about laptops, but i taked to my friend who deals in compu. he said that he wud recommend only IBM and Compaq/Hp. he said these two are reliable. though others are there in cheaper rates bt they are nt to be relied upon.
