Umm, looks like a decent laptop. They havent mentioned anything about weight or battery life , again 256Mb is a tad low and so is the 40GB disk. Also I am not sure Zenith has great products. I know they are decently priced and all that but I distinctly remember a friend telling me that the Zenith Desktops used to overheat quite a bit. There still havent been any benchmarks for the Zenith laptops atleast as far as i know and since Intel processors the FSB seems kinda low though good going with the 2Mb cache!
How about a low end Toshiba prolly only slightly more expensive than this and almost the same config?

My budget was intially 35k,can manage to stretch to 40 +/- 2 K.Cant spend anything above that.
I thought toshiba computers are damn expensive,will check out the prolly lappy nonetheless.
1 more thing,can I get a amd equivalent of the centrino fo around 40 k,I know acer sells a semporn lappy for 37k but thats no good,it is the equivalent of a celeron.

I happen to lay my hands on a compaq price list for pune.
Uploading it here,might help ya guys.
Compaq laptops however , start from aound 48 k ,so they might be a lillte expensive.
If u wanna go for a low budget lappys check out yesterdays times of india.It had an ad for sahara laptops(celeron) ,starting price:26990 k.
I will post more details about them when sahara mails me a copy of the brochure.

Yesterdays times had an ad for esys laptops n if i remeber correctly the cost for an intel celeron 1.7 ghz was around 43k.
Have u got a copy of the price list for esys.Can u upload it here?

me trying to get someone to get me a laptop from the US too. Got my sights fixed on a DELL XPS 140 which is priced at 849$. Throw in an 8X DVD writer and taking taxes into acc (free shipping) the final cost comes to 990$. Have read quite a few reviews and the final analysis is that it has very good sound and battery back up while the looks could be better (this aint a Vaio of course!).

Any comments?

I agree ... a dual core in a laptop would mean that you will have to turn the AC ka mooh on the laptop.... have not seen anyone with a dual core tho.

Inspiron 6400 is a good machine... highly portable and would servive your regular wear and tear.

Most of the Managers in Dell;use Inspiron series laptops so it has been real weather tested in the mean streets of Bangalore Hyderabad and Chandigarh.

Am not sure the Intel Duo generates that much heat also!!

m140=630m in india.check out this site www.deals2buy.com .u'llget some good bargains here.if u can wait for a mth 640m wud be out.its the same as m140 wid the dual core in place of centrino.

is it possible to make a Cellphone+Ipod+Carspeakerphone kit +car audio system talk via bluetooth /radiowaves.

the plan is to have music in Ipod which can play in the car audio speakers and calls on the cellphone which can also be played aloud via the car audio speakers.

if u r looking at making the entire system wireless then i think its not yet possible as the music systems dont support bluetooth/wi-fi

but maybe it will soon be available..

hey,

have used the apple notebook of a frnd and i find the performance really amazing when compaed to a similar spec windows run system. the display is something u can just not beat. but the catch is software compatiblity. besides software for mac systems are not readily available in india..

if u r looking at using the system mainly for net surfing, office work and movies/music.. then u might as well go for it.. but if your use goes beyond that to gaming, trying out new softwares and other nick nacks, u better stick to windows..
