Buying A Laptop

HP compaq or HCL note book? which one to choose?

It's difficult to suggest simply because people have different preferences and experiences. If you ask five people chances are you will get five different answers

But from what I have gathered HP and WAIO are two brands worth avoiding. Those who are the proud owners of those lappies do not get offended, it all depends on one's handling. Compaq HCL ...no idea 😐
I have secured admission in a B-school. My budget for laptop is around 35k. I don't play games or watch movies on the net. I just need a laptop for surfing the net, PPTs etc. However, I need a laptop which has decent battery (don't want to buy a laptop which needs AC supply all the time)

Should I buy Dell Inspiron 15R 15.6" Laptop or HP Pavilion G6-1313AX 15.6" Notebook? Pls suggest.

Go for smaller screen size then, why 15.6?

frds pls suggest me laptop
My requirement :
Budget around 35k
I3 or i5 ( don't know usase koi fark padta hai k nai )
4 gb ram
500 hard disk
Use. For studies in mba only.
Never played games and will never play :)
Have shortlisted lenovo g570 for 35k. Pls advice me.

lenovo g570 does satisfy all the criteria set by you, plus it's probably the only company among good brands to offer a i5 , 4gb configuration within 35k

Puys,

Suggestions required for Lappy in the range of 38k-45k

i5 is must....rest all depending on the company

Also suggestions needed if Dell (Inspiron series is not that good) , HP (Severe heating problems) and likewise reviews for other brands as well

Thanks

basic dell laptop , without windows , ~27k
Dell Vostro 1540 Ci3/2 GB/500 GB/Linux: Flipkart.com: Compare, Review Dell Notebook

basic dell laptop , with windows , ~31k

Dell : Buy in India @ Flipkart.com

not a huge fan of samsumg, acer laptops so not quoting them

I am planning to buy a laptop (budget 25k to 30k ) , ok for better deal i can go upto 40k . I need best internet connectivity as I have to travel a lot.I am undecided between Sony Vaio , dell, hp.I do not need more than 14 inch . Pls suggest me a good option.

dell 14R inspiron is a good option...i am using it fr a few months now..highly satisfied !! 😃

@dimpyrawal ultrabooks are basically thinner and weigh less than general notebooks.
if u r not a gamer and will be satisfied with a 13.3 - 14 " screen only then go for them.

dell inspiron 14z, samsung series 5 and acer timeline come in your budget range.
all three have similar features . . .
but personally i would suggest the Apple Macbook Air . . .greatest flaunt value and superb product
but you might have to get it from abroad if it has to be in your specified price range

pros if you are getting from abroad
1.cheaper cost
2.better options

cons
only one i can think is warranty.
though one can pay extra and can get international warranty
@ritambari Internet connectivity will depend on your internet service provider, but if you travel a lot and want to use your laptop while travelling I would suggest you go for a dell laptop with a 9 cell battery...
The inspiron series pretty much standard and is a bit rugged as well. As far as my knowledge goes Sony Viaos are pretty delicate, if you handle your laptops with care you can give it a a thought too...
@temuchin Macbook Air will really fit in that price range if ordered from abroad?
@niteshpinge yup
eleven inch for around sixty thousand and thirteen inch for sixty eight thousand
shipping on relatives ;)

@dimpyrawal an ultrabook is a thinner laptop that has a longer battery life and has an SSD for faster bootup.
not going into technicalities . . . a macbook pro is a laptop powerhouse whereas a macbook air is an ultrabook.

the only thing if you purchase from India is it will be some 10 to 15000 Rs costlier.
i mentioned it because you wanted to know the pros and cons if you were to get it from abroad.
@dimpyrawal you can get genuine apple products from reliance digital store.
also it depends on the city you are in.
check the link
and enter your city name . . .

happy shopping
@dimpyrawal seriously go for apple if it is in your budget.
you will never regret it.
the genuine place depends on your city.
make an informed decision
@dimpyrawal You can't really compare Macbook Air with the other two, it is class apart!!
If it fits in your budget, then go for it..
As far as genuine places to buy, you can also try chroma.. A trusted brand and houses different brands of laptops as well...
@dimpyrawal The typical default warranty on all laptops is usually one year which can be extended further at additional costs..
After sales service for apple may prove to be a bit pricey but it being a pretty elite brand it is understandable...
Another thing with apple laptops is its operating system, they operate on Macintosh; there are very high chances that you will have to buy a new OS every 3 years because cracked versions of those OSs are rarely available and Apple stops supporting the old Operating Systems quite fast...

With apple, people either end up loving it and never leaving it or hating it so much that they never go back to it.. You will definitely love the feel of the laptop, but its cost, both initial & maintenance, will definitely be on the higher side compared to the other brands...
@dimpyrawal
Acer comes cheap with a good after sales service
Dell comes at a reasonable price with excellent after sales service
Sony Viao comes stylish with a price that is a bit higher, don't really know about the after sales...

Frankly speaking I have been using Dell laptops for last 5 years, no troubles with anything and I recommend them.. :-P

But I would rather wait for @temuchin to get back and answer your questions about apple, he seems to be much more aware about Apple than me...

for this reason only i do not want to buy apple coz i of maintenance issues and up gradation and moreover i require it for studies i.e mba so apart from apple wat other brands are there????

Sony vaio has good service ...i recently bought vaio for mba...its worth spending few more than other brands...trust me
