I ordered the same last friday, ie 10th of June and status in the Dell site still shows that it is in production. According to the sales representative I had contacted, it is taking so much time because its a new model. I really hope I get it atleast by next week. Its already more than a week and counting.
Second Gen i3-2410m is more or less same as 1st gen i3-380m when it comes to raw performance. The key difference is, even when u turn off the graphics card to maximise battery, u'll still get superior graphics performance with 2nd gen's integrated graphics unit; that's good.
However, 1st gen i3+ NVIDIA 540m is cooooool. No way in hell can an integrated graphics chip match it in performance.
How the bloody ever, if u are a linux user-forget it; NVIDIA, that is. They are notorious for not providing linux drivers.
The price diff is coz of 2 factors.
1. Dell usually sells laptops a bit costlier than its competitors
2. They come with accidental damage cover warranty in the first year. When one extends the warranty to second year, they charge abt 3.5K. So, I guess even for the first year, u can take 2.5K as the price for accidental damage cover. U can't remove it, though.
hi Puys,
so is there a major difference between Acer 542g (above config) and the new dell inspiron 15r regarding build quality.. m still confused. :splat:
Thanks in advance

For ultra-portables Y-series in vaio range is perfect.Prices 25K upwards. Please check the sony website. Sony VAIO Laptop Computers & Peripherals : Sony India
Dell also has a good product the Inspiron Mini M101Z(11" screen, Rs.22300), and in 10" range you have the mini 10 in its lineup.Prices depend on the configuration, usually 20K upwards. : Inspiron Mini Netbooks | Dell India
For Tablet PCs I'd recommend getting the Acer Iconia Iconia W500 (~Rs.35000). It has a detachable docking station cum keyboard and it can do all your MS office work easily + Play HD content. ( please check if docking station is included with the tablet PC or has to be purchased separately ) .
nice post amazing information and attractive..
i like your way of thinking...

May be HP has released very few pieces of it in order to first finish up with the older laptops in the shops.

A bit expensive, innit? The Graphics card costs a bomb here.
@Dragonfire420 hp dv4 3016tx is total value for money. has the best graphic card in this segment. beats the dell xps series too.

Lets consider basic alienware

Alienware M11xR3 is too costly 78000/-
Dell Alienware M11xR3 | Dell India
Drawbacks
just 720p screen

4 GB RAM

Just 750 GB hard drive (NO solid state drive at this price)

11 inch
look at processor rating

way low

NOW
instead of buying nearly 80k lappy
if u buy desktop with
AMD phenon II X6 1090 3.4 Ghz 6 core processor at 9k
(look at above benchmark site)8 GB DDR3
Good motherboard 7000/-
Good Graphics 9000-10000/-
1 TB Hard disk
5.1 Speakers
22 inch BenQ Full HD 1080p LED monitor :w00t:
and other small things cabinet,SMPS etc :p
u will get at 52-53k max (u can get at 48k also
)and with remaining 25-28 k u can buy basic lappy (IF u want it for MBA col or something )
