do they both have direct 11x?
and is there any other significance difference in both these cards?

The problem is wherever I checked it was said that the Intel HD 3000 and ATI 6470 almost scored the same... so even if the 1 GB extra comes in from the GPU, i was thinking whether it would be worth it to give it a shot... I believe it would be adding another 3000 to the tally which I dont think is worth it...

These where the scores according to Notebookcheck. The only thing that made me skeptical of the scores where the processors being used along with these...

6470m:
3DMark03: 10690
3DMark05: 7207
3DMark06: 4336
3DMark Vantage: 1512
3DMark Vantage GPU: 1195
Cinebench R10 OpenGL: 4267

HD3000:

3DMark06: 4800
3DMark Vantage: 1705

see, the fact is u hav to see that intel on board HD 3000 is sharing ur Ram , ie, now less ram space is available for other processes whereas the ATI graphics is a dedicated graphic card. for instance if a game is consuming full 1 gb graphics performance and u hav 4 gb Ram, now the RAM memory wud shrink to 3 gb in case of integrated graphics, whereas it wud remain 4 gb for the process in case of dedicated graphics. hope it helps

then if we have 4 GB ram the intel HD is better ?
please reply is it the case?

m sory. i forgot to talk bout the CPU clock rate: that wud greatly affect intel hd 3000 performance.Concerning the integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000, you should keep in mind that it is - depending on the CPU - differently clocked. While the tested i7-2720QM CPU clocks the graphics chip at 650 up to 1300 MHz, the clock rate of the GPU only ranges from 650-1200 MHz in the i7-2635QM or from 650-1100 MHz in the i7-2630QM. In ULV processors the clock rate is even lower at 350-900 MHz. So, the performance drops accordingly. The same is true for systems with slender cooling capacities, because this might hinder the turbo function in achieving the maximum performance boost.

hii guys please suggest me a laptop in the range of 32k-35k
My proposed configuration is
Processor i3,i5
op with dos only
3-4 gb ram
320-500gb hard disk
dedicated graphics 512mb-1gb
15.6' screen
i'll prefer HP / dell
also a query
why HP g42 and g62 series are less popular than dv6 series. Is there any problem with g series...

Guys how is Lenevo Z-560?
Configuration: Core i5 460M, 3GB, 640GB, 15.6 inch , DOS based with 1 year warranty.
The price quoted to me was Rs. 31,900.
The configuration looks good for the price but how is Lenevo as compared to other brands like Dell.
My budget is around 35K and I need it for general use. Not a game freak.
Any suggestion/recommendations are welcome.

I would suggest you to check out lenovo z570 which has an i5 2410 with the rest of the configuration being the same and the cost comes to around 32500. Thats the price at which a friend of mine bought and from my personal experience, its quite a good one. Though you wont get the accidental cover like dell, the service of lenovo is also pretty good.

One question: Is Laptop really necessary for MBA purpose?? I mean all that is required (as far as I understand considering my requirement) is MS office, net surfing and entertainment (which for me is limited to movies and songs, I dont like gaming). So considering these requirements I feel portability & battery life are the most important considerations as not much processing power is required for these purposes. So wont a netbook/notebook suffice or I am missing something?
Also any suggestions about netbooks/notebooks? What configuration, brands etc.

P.S.: Ofcourse everything depends on one's personal choice and requirement. All I want to know is that is there anything that I have not taken into consideration.
