Please arrange these in order from best to worst....1st gen i3 with 512 mb graphics,1st gen i3 with 1 gb graphics,2nd gen i3 without graphics card and 1st gen i5 without graphics....please suggest guys...i love playing games and watching movies but the budgets is a bit tight....the brand would most probably be dell or lenovo....recommend if u know sumthing better within 35k.
vaibhavtrikha Sayssony model has ddr3 1 gb graphics where as hp has ddr5 1 gb
the hp dv6 6017tx, which has 2nd generation i7, is priced at the same level as this sony, which has just i5.. Which would be a better option among these two? Also, do laptops with i7 processors tend to heat up more and have relatively lower battery life?

unfortunately yes heat up more and eat more battery
an i7 processor is actually a quad core processor so its obvious it eats more battery
but their is not much difference in i3 and i5, their is difference but not much
i7 and that too with 2nd generation is the most advanced processor available and believe me you will never need one in next 2-3 years

I thought it was conventional wisdom by now that the Gfx RAM by itself does not mean anything
here is a pretty decent list of mobile gfx cards ranked by performance
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
PS: I would also suggest that instead of agonizing over tech specs ( any dual core should do fine, any gfx should do for cs, and you probably wont get time for any hardcore gaming in first year, throw all the RAM and HDD you can afford, and you should be set). Worry about ergonomic, battery life, the keyboard feel, portablity etc. You will be stuck with this laptop , and it will be your companion for the next two years. I suggest you get very intimate with your laptop before making a purchase decision
Puys,
Your thots on this??
HP Pavilion dv4-3016tx Entertainment Notebook PC (LQ389PA) specifications - HP Home & Home Office products
Price: Should be between 40 and 42k
( Have a look at this as well, its a comparable dv6 lap but i'm looking for a 14inch lighter one...tats why dv4 seems attractive to me.
HP Pavilion dv6-6006tu Entertainment Notebook PC (LQ459PA) specifications - HP Home & Home Office products )
Let me know the pros, cons n value for money.
Thanks,

Hi Guys,
I have a doubt.
i purchased a Dell laptop but i didnt order it ol .
instead i purchased froma dell retailer and got the laptop instantly.
now the problem is the Service tag number which needs to be registered in order for the laptop to be covered under any sort of warranty is not yet registered.
So i just wanted to ask all the dell users typically how much time does it take for the service tag number to get registered on the dell site.
currently i get the message "invalid service tag" when i enter the no.
Kindly through some light
thnx

I would suggest you to go with the dv4 itself.
Pros over dv6 :
1. Lighter and portable
2. AMD 6630 as against Intel GMA
Other than these two, I cant find any difference. So i guess, its better to go with it if you get it at the price you have quoted. ie somewhere around that 42 grand.

gr8, there lies the reason why dv4 is light and more portable than dv6. A trade off basically 😃 Any idea about the price of dv4??? i cudnt find but i believe it shud be less than dv6.
puys,
Difference between windows 7 home basic and premium?
If suppose someone is not a gamer, then what are the areas he can find the usage of a dedicated graphics card over a intel integrated graphics??
How HP compares against Dell in terms of reliability and after sales support?
Thanks,

Hello guys, me planning on purchasing a laptop, and I have decided upon this model of Sony Vaio E-Series:
VPCEB46FG : E Series : VAIO Laptop & Computer : Sony India
I did some check up regarding the graphics card- ATI HD 5650. I hope it is sufficient to play games such as Crysis 2, Witcher 2.
Any suggestion, information, etc is welcome.

one drawback is that it has first generation i5 processor.. For nearly the same price, you can have a look at hp dv6 pavilion 6016tx, which has 2nd gen i5, and better graphic card too.. And if you are willing to spend more, sony vpccb15fg costs 54k, has 2nd gen i5 processor and better graphic card.. But then, for that price, you could get a hp pavilion dv6 6017tx, which comes with 2nd gen i7 and a beast of a graphic card(this is a gr8 deal at 53k, if you are a gaming freak).. check out all these laptops and decide for yourself.. Some links are available in the previous two pages.. Else search in flipkart.:-)
