Hi,

I have a budget of around 50K. Please suggest a good laptop in this range.

As of now, I am liking the Dell XPS 14 with i5 processor......
http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=t541106in8&c;=in&l;=en&s;=dhs&cs;=indhs1&model;_id=xps-14
I have been able to get a customized quotation of Rs.50450 for the same.....this includes:
- intel i5 480M 2.66 GHZ (i wld have liked to have a 2nd generation processor but that is not available in this model)
- 4 GB RAM
- 500GB HDD
- 1GB nvidia graphics card
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- MS office 2010 student edition.
- Mc-Affee antivirus 15 months
I am also getting a 5% corporate discount and a backpack free with this....

also i am getting an Inspiron 14R for the same configuration at 45K....please let me know which one to go for....
also is this is a good buy

suggestions in other brands are also welcome

I read in the reviews of dell xps on the dell website that xps doesn't have VGA output....that means we cannot connect to a projector for giving presentations

anyone of you who is currently using a dell xps please shed some light on this.......

also is this issue there in Inspiron as well??

yeah this is a big issue thats why i am not opting for XPS ...u have to buy a converter from mini display to vga ...mini display port is their in XPS and also u can use HDMI cable but the projector must have hdmi port ... In 50 -55 k range their is Sony vaio C series having all latest features..this one is a gud laptop in the market in the price range ..

I have finalized this laptop...plz let me knw if I may need anything else,I lyk to play games but have been told 2nd gen processors are more than sufficient for mainstream gaming

Lenovo Z570-59069599 with free DOS

Intel core 2nd gen i5-2410m with turbo boost 2.0
3GB DDR3 RAM(is it sufficient or 4 GB needed?)
15.6 HD LED screen
640GB HDD Capacity
DVD RW Optical Drive
Intel HD Graphics 3000
6 cell battery
5-in-1 card reader
SRS speakers
I key theatre optimization
Integrated 2.0 MP Webcam
Metallic Grey Colour

Freebies:Lenovo Bagpack,12months McAfee,Lenovo Mouse,Lenovo Headset nd Lenovo Skin

Price:Rs.36000 approx

I also want to knw what are the advantages of opting genuine windows instead of pirated ones???

hi i have a query...
is
Intel Wireless Network Card 6200 used for wi-fi??
and wats a WWAN Info mod??
sorry newbie as far as these things are concerned.....

It means that ur laptop doesnt have any Wireless Wide Area Network
thats not a big issue as no one ever needs it... its used for long distance wireless connections so, not required mostly...
make sure it has wi-fi 802.11a/b/g.... thats for wireless local area network...like in our hostels we have internet thru wifi so we need it and many service providers give wifi modems, so wont need wires to connect to internet....

but the dealer has told me 2nd gen processors r sufficient for games which require upto 512 MB card...even intel websites says that 2nd gen processors hav dedicated memory nd graphics for all mainstream gaming except 3d..Do I still need a graphic card???

Quote 4m Intel site-"Intel HD Graphics 3000 delivers built-in performance for casual and mainstream gaming with no extra graphics hardware needed."
