Buying A Laptop

Can you guys suggest a good laptop with the following configuration:

i5
4 GB RAM (I'm not a hardcore gamer but play occasionally. In that case would 3 GB be enough?)
320/500 GB HDD
1 GB Graphics Card
A good quality webcam.

I'm willing to go upto 40-42k.

Also does anyone have any idea about how to avail a laptop thru an education loan? Does the bank give money after I purchase the laptop of my own money or does it finance it for me?

i have the same confusion too
do bank avail loan before or after buying the laptop and is there a limit on the amount?

if u nt too much into gaming , dont go for a dedicated graphics; i mean a dedicated graphics card reduces ur battery backup n heats up d laptop a lot. its only a suggestion .i mean u cn save a lot also if u dun take a dedicated graphics.
i5, 3gb ram,320gb hdd, windows 7 wud cost u arnd 36500 in dell

Puys, do consider Compaq laptops while making purchase.
It has good range of systems reasonably priced.
You get a good deal witin 40k.
Warranty 1 yr.

MacBook Pro 13'' is the one worht buying. It's an ultimate machine. The only problem is it's overly priced in India. So if anyone can get it from US, its a better deal than even Dell XPS.

I am buying McBook Pro 13.3". After all, for MBA needs and entertainment requirments who needs power. So go for style.
P.S. I custom made a dell laptop with same config as McBook Pro 13", and Dell (from India) is more costlier than McBook from US. Quite obvious though.

Laptop buying advice

guys i see buying a laptop for your mba is a decent investment and i just wanted you guys to make the proper decision and get the ultimate value for your buck.

whenever asking for suggestions i want you guys to use the following template-

Requirements - basic mba, gaming, video rendering etc .in the requirements section just write the main needs you will be using this laptop .

Brand preference/dislike - Dell,Hp,Acer,Apple etc if you have any preference or dislike please mention here

Budget - tell me your basic budget

open to online purchase - as you can see flipkart and ebay have proved terrific online sites to purchase from.i personally have purchased 2 laptops from ebay and very very satisfied.write here whether you are open to online purchase.

size - is portability a factor or you wont mind a workhorse? lemme know here,11",13",15" your basic size.

upgrade - how many years do you plan to use this and when will your next upgrade be.

i will add more to the template afterwards.but this should cover all the basics i believe.
Requirements - basic mba,gaming, movies.

Brand preference/dislike - Dell,Hp (Basically not so costly ones)

Budget - Less than 60k

open to online purchase - preferably from the store or like Dell(online)

size - 14"/15"

upgrade - only after 3 years minimum

I have in mind an XPS model of Dell which comes at 55 with i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 1 GB NVidia Card, 500GB HD, 15" and Blu Ray drive. (10 BRay discs free)

Any suggestions welcome

^^ the problem with the dell xps you are planning to take is its going to be outdated pretty soon.dell xps with sandy bridge processors are going to arrive soon and the difference is huge.would recommend you to save some cash and get this

What is the major difference between the one you recommended and the one I planned to take?
Also How is this XPS going to be outdated soon?

PS : I am pretty ignorant on these issues.

^^The xps 15 you plan to take has a outdated processor which has already been replaced with the new sandy bridge processor by dell and the updated laptops are already out in US.In india they are going to be available in a month barring any delays.so basically if you buy that xps you are paying for something which will give you very similar performance to the one i have mentioned.bottom line if you are spending 50 odd k only do take a updated laptop with sandy bridge but here patience is the key.if you cannot wait than take the one i recommended it can more than suffice your needs.
