Hi puys, I don't really want to buy a laptop right now but I may buy one later, depending on your views 😃 I've been using PCs/laptops since the last 13 years (yup, since 1997 :)). Just recently, I've developed an interest in the Macbook, mainly due to some friends who gave good reviews after owning them.

So I would like you guys to compare Macbook and a normal Windows running laptop. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a Macbook over a Windows run laptop? Any other points, suggestions, advice you guys would like to add? As I know, the Macbook is costlier (assuming both have similar configuration), so is it worth the extra price?

Please suggest me a good performance laptop within a budget of 35000 rs ( not above strictly).
Amongst my choices i have narrowed down to two machines
-dell inspiron 15r
-vaio vpceb12en/bi

plz suggest from acer, vaio, lenovo and dell

Find the configuration for the Acer-5745G below. Let know if its a good deal at the given price. Also anyone who has gone with this laptop, kindly your share experiences. Thinking of going with it .

AFAIK eb series is discontinued by the company(as it had a problem in fan) and dealer might be giving the old stock. So they can give u even more discount of around 7-8 thousand
Kindly look for the new Z series laptops, as they have better feature

Hi everyone

For those confused between choosing the Inspiron or the Studio laptop, please read on.

Yesterday I went to the Dell showroom to check out the looks and feel of both models as I was confused between an Inspiron 14R and a Studio 14.

Both laptops have nice finish, sturdy build quality and are quite thin compared to other brands.

However coming down to comparisons between the two, I was told the following points by the Dell sales guy at the showroom (which I assume we should accept as credible information)

Points where Studio is better than the Inspiron:

1) Biggest disadvantage with the Inspiron is the hinge of the LCD. He says he has seen several complaints about it getting loose with use and leading to subsequent problems with the display. Studio on the other hand has a sturdier design with better hinges to avoid this issue.

2) Studio has a better wifi card installed. I am not an IT guy so wont know the technical jargon but he said that the Inspiron has a card which will support lower speed than a Studio.

3) In the Intel i3 range the Studio has a 370M processor while the Inspiron has a 350M processor. I am not sure if you can upgrade the processor on the Inspiron but it will surely cost you an extra buck if you do.

4) Standard speakers on the Inspiron are basic while Studio comes with stereo sound as standard with a sub-woofer

Points where Inspiron is better than the Studio:

1) The price. Inspiron will give you the same config as the Studio at a price of around 3-4k lesser. By config i mean the similar processor, RAM and HDD which will be most important. Speakers etc like I mentioned above will be different of course. Also the HDD speed on the Inspiron is 5400RPM which you can upgrade with extra cost while the Studio has a 7200RPM one as standard.

2) The 1GB ATI graphics 5470 card on the Inspiron is slightly better than the one on the Studio which has a 5450. Again I dont know the technical differences but this is what he told me.

3) Battery life. With the same 6-cell battery the Inspiron will run longer than the Studio between charges. This possibly owing to the additional speaker consumption etc on the Studio.

All in all, in the conversation he was trying to imply that the Inspiron is a scaled down version of the Studio where Dell has intelligently cut costs on components which people do not directly consider while buying a laptop (i.e. hinge design and speakers among others) in order to provide similar configs at lower costs.

Its a personal choice on whether you want an Inspiron or a Studio. I am considering ordering a Studio.

Hope this was helpful.

hi puys I am makin this post from my newly bought lenovo y550 lappy....here is the config.

4gb ddr3 ram

and the collateral advantages are

1.this model has 3 yrs parts n labour warranty by lenovo.I heard in terms of srvice lenovo is way better than others
2.this model though priced at 45k I got it at 38 from our one relative who is a dealer himself hence gave me at distributor price..

eb26 is the latest from sony. so it wont be an old model for sure. just make sure you get a genuine bill. check contents like battery and charger and see if they are genuine. the box contains their serial no's if i am not wrong.

am planning to buy the same with 5%discount

but now am confused due to acer 5745g.(whose search brought me to this thread)

similar graphic cards. sony has a better display, acer has a better processor.

Hey puys, I recently visited an Acer mall and was awed by the new Acer Timeline lappy launched in india. It sports the same configuration as a sony eb26 but with a better i5 processor (same as 5745G). However, the added advantage which comes is the 10 hours battery backup (power save mode) and the 1.8kg weight !!! Yes, you have to compromise on the screen size (14 inch compared to 15.6 in others) but the price that it is selling for and the performance it delivers it is a steal at that price. For gamers too this lappy delivers decent output for high end games. Find details below:

Acer Timeline 4820TG
:
Processor: i5-430M (2.26 GHZ to 2.53GHZ)
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
HDD: 500 GB (5400 rpm)
Graphics: ATI Radeon 5650 1 GB
Weight: 1.8 KG
Display: 14 inch LED HD with 16:9 aspect ratio
Sound: Dolby surround
Price: Rs. 49,000
Battery: 6-cell (gives 10 hour backup in power save mode)

This seemed to me like the closest thing to a macbook (well you might argue a dell adamo is closer to it but this ones loaded with macbook like performance).

P.S: The battery may run from 4 hours to 10 hours depending on combination of the graphic card used (intel/ATI) and the applications used. On continuous use with high resolution games or movies (with ATI graphics on) the dealer claimed it will give minimum 3.5 to 4 hours backup which is amazing.
