1080p full HD screen ??: I was thinking of going for studio 15 mainly for the option of upgrading to hd screen. Also the artist editions are cool (but expensive too so if you guys have got it give some feedback).
But now from what I heard, full hd doesnt add much as far as a 15 inch screen goes. The effect is hardly noticeable and browsing and readability suffers. But desktop utilization improves for sure.
Is it true , is full hd worth it.. suggestions plz !!

The thing about HD screen should be true. Lets say that you plan to watch a movie on your laptop...now, unless it is HD in nature, you may not see it any different from another laptop which does not has HD screen.
You can realize the full potential for HD screen only if you have HD content to play.
About artist editions, well its your personal choice...if it suits your budget, go for it. Also, I may suggest that you actually forego artist edition and buy cheaper non artistic laptop with same configuration and use the balance to buy some other stuff like external hard disk, pendrive, etc.
When it comes to Dell and Sony...I would prefer Dell. I DO NOT have any prior experience of Sony or Dell, but I know it for sure that Dell's core competency is laptops and computers while Sony's is consumer electronics like TV, music player, gaming consoles, etc. So, Dell ought to better that Sony in terms of pricing and after sales service. Also I have herd that Dell's support is much better. Moreover Sony tends to overcharge certain items because of its brand. Please do keep in mind that Sony might actually produce very good items, but somehow I feel that they are not justified for the price charged by Sony.
Also, if you live in Delhi or if your college is in Delhi, I suggest that instead of buying the laptop online, you purchase it from Nehru Place. I know certain shops which can give discount on the MRP of the laptop you see on the website. I would also suggest you to consider HP laptops since I have used them and they are very durable. Also pretty neat to look at.

3 year parts and labour waRRANTY
+ lenovo add on feature for y series like 1 key theatre/veri face etc...
the prob is the OS they are givin is vista home 64 bit
now if I buy windows 7 separately the cost is comin arnd 45k
now someone plz help me out wid the followin quaries
1.Is it still a good deal ??or should I better go for DELL
2.I have heard that DELL actually creates lots of complication @the time of givin free service.....even after havin complete accidental coverage(for 2 yrs 4k!!) it is not so certain.thanks to not understandable legal complication in the service terms....but lenovo has no such problem....
I can have dell too @ a discounted price but the main reason I am biased for lenovo is

I will be joining mdi, so Nehru place is an option I can explore. U mentioned the rates there being better than online, but are they better than the online ones after the vat and other discount offered by dell (read here that one can avail of 8% discount, guys plz confirm). Ppl seem to prefer online buying. Also can I get a customized laptop at Nehru palace, or the vanilla ones are the only options?

Regarding Sony's service
Sony has only carry-in service warranty till now, heard that they have started onsite service warranty recently. But Sony does not have full accidental cover. So in this aspect Dell is better since its giving Full accidental cover option. Also Sony's warranty costs much more that Dell's.
IMO, if you are living in Metro or big cities and do not want accidental cover, then you will not be suffered for Sony's service. The extra cost for Sony can be compromised by its looks & fell

Carry-in Service : If any problem occurs in your lappi, you have to carry that to the respective service centre.(anyway toll-free helpline is available for the warranty period).
Onsite Service : If any problem occurs in your lappi,call customer care, their technician will come to your door
Full accidental cover : If you spill water over your keyboard, your lappi is insured in that scenario also . Dell has this service option. Sony has only Manufacture's warranty.

I did check the prices for Dell laptop on Dell showroom and another shop...and rates on Dell's website appear to be CHEAPER!!! I stand corrected now....
While Dell's showroom said that Studio 15 costs 50K, website was giving it for about 47K.
I am not aware of getting a laptop customized at Nehru Place...
If you need to look at HP laptop....I suggest that you look at DV6 series...
