I have big dilemma whether to go for 500MB or 1 GB graphic card. Basically I am looking for 14" , i-3 , 4GB RAM and 1GB graphic card combination in Sony Vaio, but only 500MB Gfx card is available with above config. Else I have to go for 15.3 " (don't like to carry 2.7kg) or i-5 ( which increases the price by 10k approx). Vaio do not have "customize" feature as against Dell. I am a bit gaming maniac but won't mind letting off a few high intensive games. Please tell me should I go for 500MB gfx ? and which are the games I have to sacrifice then ?
core i5 has good graphic capabilities. so a 512 mb card will be ok. with i3 you need a 1 gb graphic for extreme gaming. now if u want to let some high end games go u can opt for i3 with 512 or i5 with no graphic card. hope this will help u narrow down on a model. one advice. if u are into gaming go for eb 26 with full hd 1080 p. and buya backpack. the weight will not bother you. u will enjoy the games on a bigger screen with extra clarity and the system is fully loaded.
Hi, Got my dell inspiron 15r delivered today...w/o dedicated graphics card..I hv a doubt......what is max size of the on-board intel graphics card?
On-Board graphics means u hav a low end graphics processing chip on ur motherboard which shares ur main memory ie RAM along with CPU ...so regarding size i would say it follows need based policy by default or u can set to a fixed size that would be reserved for graphics in ur RAM( thru BIOS not all boards supports this)
Both the policies will occupy the ram mem tht will b required by current processes for ex. whn ur not playing games ur graphics usage is very low thn small amount will be used graphics otherwise graphics chip will consume as much mem as need but there is always upper limit for that.(depending upon ur ram)
and during any conflicts CPU is given more priority thn graphics.so it is always advisable to have more ram when ur having onboard graphics. to see wht amount of memory is currently occupied go to tht intel graphics app n browse little u'll get.

Laptops and Netbooks are two completely different things...they not only differ in size, capabilities, battery life but also there architecture is different.
1st decide wht u want laptop or netbook for this analyse ur needs ( lik u do for mocks..) n tak a little bit help of mighty google n see wht matches ur needs a laptop or netbook...thn look for netbook models

Thumbs up 4 d useful post  But a single correction 4m my side Accidental cover works handy 4 d MBA students as d laptop is bound 2 crash at some point of time during college And it costs jus 800-900, So i suppose its worth spending a few bucks more
Puys, asking for some model selection based on utilities.. do pour your inputs..
I am mainly looking for a lappy offering some great movie watching experience (15.6 inch full HD widescreen with really good audio system). Also for extensive browsing n on screen reading. Not much of a gamer yet, except CS n NFS. Will also like to try my hands at video editing.
So what kinda model n config/customization should I look for?
Also can someone provide some pointers for better comparing the display n audio properties of the models and customizing them to get the best on offer.. Currently looking for something under 45k but wouldn't mind spending more.
