Why would you want to buy an outdated product unless you get some discount for it (which I'm sure won't be the case for most Apple products)? All Apple hardware products take a little while come in Indian stores, so you might have to wait. (When, I can't say.) And I think there shouldn't be a price difference between the C2D and the i5/i7 ones (if the clock speeds are in the same range.)
If you're not in a hurry, and are keen to purchase your notebook from India, I'd advise you to wait. Shouldn't be a long while before the new Macbooks hit the India stores.
Cheapest place to buy: Definitely not India. I think US and Dubai are roughly on the same plane.

Need to get a replacement battery for my 3.5 yr old Dell Inspiron E1505. I bought it in the US, so Dell India Customer Care doesn't want to help me. I don't want to buy the battery again from the US, as it costs a lot there! - $149 and upwards.

I don't think you have too many options here. At best, you could try to google the battery model number (and follow up from there). My experience is that you will get your battery in the same range as in the US.

Thanx a ton 4 the info. From what i've seen in various forums, the model looks exactly the same as eb16 and have similar specs.. I dont follow the logic behind discontinuing one model for a similar one or am i missing something ?
as you mentioned that you do not need heavy computing machine i would recommend sony EB14 for you. it is a good system with 3 gb ram enough for your work and good hd display and output.. plus it would not cost much as well. it would cst u 37 000. if you want to buy an equivalent with mac it will cost you 1,09,000. you can decide on the rst.
since you said no heavy work my suggestionsi do not go for a lappy with graphics as you wont need them. go for i3 processor as it will suffice your graphic needs. also no need for 4 gb ram. 3 is more than enough.. concentrate on hdd space and hd output...

I was basically interested in Mac as recently I have had major issues with viruses and glitches and would have liked a system which does not give so many problems at the drop of the hat. Many recommended Mac and though I too thought it to be a bit much pricewise, for my peace of mind was willing to think abt it. So thx for this alternative.

for rs.43000/= ......and i think its a pretty good buy (except the Home Basic which i would change to Ultimate myself 😛 ) as inquired by a lot of seniors and friends, MBA students' laptop is bound to crash at some point of time in the course and the repair charges might be high.
So i would suggest all to get a good insurance or cover.

i have not used a lenovo before but acc to me the major lappy players are dell, sony and hp.wont be able to compare for you. sorry about that.
as far as virus threat is concerned buy an original antivirus like kaspersky and keep it updated. trust me you will not face problems. plus windows 7 is very safe . so you will not face any major issues.
the good news is that sony has come out with many new models. just visit any sony center and i beleive you will find the lappy you are looking for...

the only upgrade is that core i3 330 m is changed and i3 350 m is coming out in the new e series. also i found out another series. check out sony cw series also. specific model cw1b, cw2b told to me by the sony retailer. check them out buddy.

My friend had bought an HP Dv5 laptop around a year ago. Like many of us he was confused between Dell and HP but the HP looks and config attracted him and he went for it. But his experience has not been that great. There is no doubt about the performance and display but he faced lots of issue with the HP's 6 cell battery and the sound quality which is very low at full volume 2. He got external speakers as a result but the battery started draining in lesser times as he went on using his lappy and has had to get them replaced twice. I mean for a guy like him who travels a lot the laptop has turned out to be nightmarish. Just recently he bought a Dell with the 9 cell option and has been happy so far. Passed on his HP to a relative. So just wanted to inform you guys about this. As MBA students I thus feel a dell (though not as good looks as an HP) will be safe choice.
P.S: The problem may be with only his HP model and we cannot generalize anything based on this experience.

I have big dilemma whether to go for 500MB or 1 GB graphic card. Basically I am looking for 14" , i-3 , 4GB RAM and 1GB graphic card combination in Sony Vaio, but only 500MB Gfx card is available with above config. Else I have to go for 15.3 " (don't like to carry 2.7kg) or i-5 ( which increases the price by 10k approx). Vaio do not have "customize" feature as against Dell. I am a bit gaming maniac but won't mind letting off a few high intensive games. Please tell me should I go for 500MB gfx ? and which are the games I have to sacrifice then ?
