my XAT 2011 score(as per TIME key):
VA: 16.5
LR: 13
QA: 16.75
OA: 46.25
i have applied only to XLRI, both the courses: BM and PMIR
i guess m out f d league for BM but is dr ne chance of getting a call from PMIR ??

ur gettin it all wrong....u can't use positive or negative traits to find the odd one out...that logic is flawed. u don't have to think that complicated to find the answer....all that is required of u is to understand the idiom and see whether the corresponding example fits in...it's that simple :)
if u go by positive or negative traits then real mccoy has both negative and positive traits...just because something is unique doesn't mean it's positive. for example i can say hitler is the original bad guy etc.
all options fits in with the corresponding idiom except for UN peace keeping forces AS THEY DO NOT START THE WAR they are are sent to war torn countries to maintain peace.
United Nations Peacekeeping (read this for ur enlightenment)

what ur talkin about the peacekeepers is a minor incident and NOT THEIR MISSION STATEMENT or PURPOSE.
and of course they have guns....who wouldn't in war torn region....but they use it for their own protection and for the protection of others. remember they didn't start the conflict....
their sole purpose is to maintain peace!
if ur still not convinced u can look at the solutions given by TIME, IMS , CAREER LAUNCHER, CAREER FORUM, TEST FUNDA and TCYONLINE. and they all show UN peace keeping forces as the odd one out.
don't worry about the -3.75 marks.... the cut off will probably be low...i'm sure u'll clear it 😉
hey puys can anybody give the answer for this data sufficiency question asked in XAT 2011
given below is an equation where the letters represent digits
PQ * RQ = XXX. find the sum of P+Q+R+X
1) X=9
2) the digits are unique
I have marked D coz without statement 2 the answers can be 27 * 37 = 999 OR 00 * 00 = 000
as 00 = 000 = 0
but all the coaching institutes have marked E (neither 1 nor 2 is necessary to answer the question) 😞 except for career forum which has given D (either 1 or 2 is sufficient to answer the questions) as the answer
what about when when x =0 and when x=9 then you get two values for the sum of P+Q+R+X
My Scores:
QA - 26.5
VA - 17.5
DM - 11.5
Total - 55.5
Any chances of clearing the Cutoffs of XLRI.
why can't P=Q=R=X=0...how does this violate the condition mentioned in the question statement....all that is mentioned is that the letters represent digits and NOT different digits
can you say 00 is a two digit number if thats the case then ican add number of zeroes behind 2 in 27 and behind 3 in 37 and 0000..27=27
000..37=37 but i suppose a number can be termed as two digit or three digit dpeending upon non zeroes in the highest place digit is placed number of 0s behind that doesnt count any significance then how can 00 be uniqeuly told as two digit number 00,000,0000 if you find any difference let me know among the mentioned numbers(so called)

definetly it cane be then where is the question of uniqueness then
27 and 37 can be written as it is so they are unique 0's you can have 1 to infinity do you find any uniquness in it.

now with only this info u can conclude two things
27*37=999 therefore P+Q+R+X = 2+3+7+9 = 21 and
00*00=000 therefore P+Q+R+X = 0+0+0+0 = 0 as 00=000=0000=0000000=0
hence we cannot find a unique value for P+Q+R+X it could either be 21 or 0
using statement 1 i.e x=9.....a unique value of P+Q+R+X can be found
using statement 2 i.e all digits are unique ...a unique value of P+Q+R+X can be found
therefore the answer should be D and not E....does anybody can prove otherwise ????

what i'm trying to say is that irrespective of the number of zeros it is still a zero i.e 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 = 0
because of this u get two values for P+Q+R+X THEREFORE U NEED either statements to get a unique value for P+Q+R+X.

well DUH...999 , 99 and 9 are different from each other(still)
i'm talkin about the property of zero that is unique only to zero ie irrespective of the number of zeros it is still zero. the exception to this rule is when zero follows a leading digit ie 5000 not equal 500 not equal to 50
but 00003.45 = 003.45 = 03.45 = 3.45
so 0000 = 000000000000 = 00 = 0000000000000000000000 = 0

Officially,the results will be out by 31st Jan.But,i read in a post earlier that last year they declared the result much earlier(i.e. around a week before).
So,i guess we can expect the result by 23th-24th Jan.
