Puys i need some confirmation bout Xat here. I just browsed through some IMS material and it states taht the marks/ques is not specified.
Can u pl confirm if its 1/ques or something different.
Expecting a quick reply, as its a bit paniky info for me rt now.

There isn't much u can do. Considering the horrible situation we are in, it is quite commendable that XAT admissions office have acknowledge our situations and have offered an alternative. I suggest you pray to god and make it to that place where you will get ur admit card. All the best for XAT.

suppose QA and DI section....i have attended 10 question ....is it okay if i attend any 10 i mean easy ones...?????in XAT is there anything like that k the different Questions have different weightage or all the questions have consists only 1 mark????just let me know that...

in a particular sections all questions have the same weight-age unless otherwise specified in the instructions. Make sure to read them well as XAT changes patterns every year.
Also it is mostly an accuracy based exam so choose your questions well and me mindful of the progressive negative marking scheme.

If I am not wrong, the progressive negative marking scheme applies for each section i.e. incase of 1/5th for 1st 5 wrong answers and 1/4th thereon, the 1/5th for 1st 5 wrong answers will be applicable for each section seperately, right ????????????? Kindly clarify

yup....1/5th for 1st 5wrong answers was applicable for each section separately and then 1/4th for subsequent wrong answers

The negative marking pattern changes every year as far as I have seen. Its better to read the instructions before starting the exam.

well in my post the tense was past tense...i was talking about last year....and as doc said in his XAT ready reckoner...the negative marks do change

As far as I know, it won't be sent to you by courier/speedpost/registered post/unregistered post. It is up in the xlri website.

Goto XAT / XLRI Online Registration and find the button "Download Admit Card".

tired of seeing the same message again and again Invalid Login Details
after entering my XATid :XAT410796 ....now its getting on my psyche really
affecting my prep.......any other with same problem ....how to get my admit card....please help:drinking:....dont know when i will get my admit card ......
seriously these management institutes first learn how to manage a exam ...

I personally didn't find a link inside XLRI profile page to change the password.. So the email that you received with XAT ID and password must work. You might have copied the password with a space in front of it. Copy only the password from the email. Also make sure your CAPS LOCK is appropriately on or off..

What have u done.....why didn't you go thru the previous threads???? XAT admissions office have acknowledged the fact that they've goofed up with the admit cards of close to 800 candidates. Which is why you needed to call up their helpline numbers. They would've then allocate a test centre to you over the phone and would've asked you to reach the test centre sharp at 11:00 am on 31st Dec to collect a duplicate admit card. Now, I realise that they were not receiving the calls but you needed to try continuously and I'm sure you would have got thru to someone. Please try tom morning by 9am in the morning. All the best.

Can anyone help me regardign essay writing/????

its taking a toll on me....like i went thru the papers of previous yrs...But there are some abstract topics which is not understandable..And soo many things are there....i mean i really cant understand on which portions shud i give importance for esssay writings???i mean yeah ok i can write well but if i feel fish out of the water in that case....if i dont know about the subject matter in that case?????

and one mroe thing is how this ESSAY Writing matters.....i mean if i score well in other topics...i mean QA VA and LR but a very low score in ESSAY....in that case will i get a call from XLRI or XIMB???or other institutes????just let me know that../

OK..i ll try and give a little bit on how i think XAT should be tackled and I hope it can help some of you to do that extra bit on the day thats not very far :).
I ll start with a walkthrough of my 2 hours tryst with XAT and how i went about it. That might help some but that was just how I went about it.
Hence after that I shall try and guide you a little on how you can make the best of your 2 hours. So first my 2 hours of XAT 2010:
I started with QA as i usually followed a QA-VA-DI strategy. I was equally strong at all sections but IF there was a weak one it was QA maybe.
So I started picking PnC and Probability and other modern maths questions or questions that needed more brains and logic than theoretical maths.
I was able to do quite a few questions and started thinking if it was too easy and the cutoff might go high. I attempted 16 in abt 45-50 mins
thinking that it might be an easy section so i need to score high. Then i went on to VA. I was always very confident of my VA speed and managed 27 attempts in abt 35 mins.
Now i was left with about 35-40 mins and the whole AR-DM section. And 15 mins into it i realized this was the toughest section. But, now there was no looking back. It had to be do
or die. I trusted my AR skills and picked 2-3 sets and luckily cracked them all soon enough in abt 30 mins. I also picked a short n sweet DM passage and did 4 questions of it in abt 5 mins.
At the end, i had solved a question and was to mark the option when the invigilator said "stop writing" and the stupid principles and scruples that i have i didn't mark it coz i thot time was over.
So here i was with 17 QA/di attempts in abt 50 mins. 27 VA in abt 35 mins and 13 AR+DM attempts in abt 35 mins.
The essay was a general one and i managed it well in 15 mins.
So now i went out of the hall confident of VA and QA and skeptical abt my AR attempt which was only 13. But outside people and the general opinion told me
that people had found AR and QA really tough where I thot QA was easy and attempted so much. But the fact that people could barely attempt 10 AR questions
confidently was an assurance.
And according to various keys i was scoring realllll good. As an example,
According to TestFunda keys i was getting:
QA 14.6 (15 rt 2 wrng)
AR 11.8 (12 rt 1 wrng)
VA 21 (22 rt 5 wrng)
OA 47.4
this score was realll amazing.
And when the results came i had a 99.95 overall with 99.5 in QA, 99.38 in VA and 98.48 in AR and had sort of nailed it.
OK. so now the learnings and generalizations. Its a 2 hr test but NOT a speed game. You usually have PLENTYYYY of questions to choose from and u dont need to score TOO high.
So play on ur strengths , pick questions ur comfortable with and MANAGE TIME WELL . This I say because you dont know when the 2 hrs fly by, and you could end up i
a situation where you have too lil time left for a tough section as was in my case with AR. I luckily managed to keep my calm and crack it but that might not always be the case.
Also, dont waste time on tough nuts. They are in there to trick u and waste ur time. Its not abt ur ego. Its abt the call.
Apart from that you are all as good as anyone and far better than what i was . So go ahead and nail it .
