guess gk does not matter so much to the XLRI guys 😃 😃 😃
And another thing. My Verbal scores are supposed to be just 69% of the top score in the section even though my percentile is 99+. does this mean that the top 1% consists of one (or more) supergeniuses who did extra-extra-ordinarily well even when compared to the ppl who got 99+?
Of course man, it's a similar scene with CAT scores too. In your case, you've got 99.06 pctile in English, that means there are 0.94% of total candidates ahead of you. Assuming 35000 total, this means around 325-330 people. Certainly there'll be super studs in that large a sample.
As another example, take me. I've got 83.33 relative percentage, and 99.88 English percentile, that means only 0.12%=40 ppl ahead of me, and still I get a low-ish relative percentage.
P.S. Thanks to 92.2 in Quant, I didn't get a call.

ga 88.75
i did not get a call for xlri-bm......
hadnt applied anywhere else in xat..
i know i was done in by va but still i thought with such a nice percentile i should have got the call with a decent percentile in ga...
but anyways, thats life,........shit happens....

Kinda re-inforces my feeling that this year at least QA is the only score they've looked at with a 95+ cut-off in that and nothing else. Don't know why they bothered to have the other sections really. Having said that, I guess its up to them who they want to call.
That's right, I heard of a case from DCE who's got 2 marks and 32-odd percentile in GK, and still got a call.

Agree. This'll sound like sour grapes, but I'm not really sure whether I would've been able to survive there, surrounded only by non-poet quant jocks, so my non-call is more tolerable now.

- Quant quite accurately measures your intelligence. This is the most important attribute that a "Manager" must have.
- Verbal is skewed towards "convent-educated" ppl. It just measures your grasp of english & reading speed, both which are IMHO not very important attributes.
-GK is important..but the test involves a high degree of luck..
So, Quant should be the only section. XL seems to have woken up to this only now.

More than QA, i think more stress on EQ than IQ..diff to gauge but I believe that all sections re imp and ppl with anyone less than 90 in any section dont deserve a call.

I beg to differ with ur cut-off %iles...
i personally know a person who does not even have 95% in any section....he has 93-94 in QA and VA, and 65 something in GA and 96 overall....with just a yr exp...and he has a call....and i have seen someone mentioning even with 45%ile in GA has a call....
yup... i have also come across many results which cannot b explained.... dunno wats the criteria....
first it was IIM B,A coming up with weird call pattern.... then it was IIM I.... then host of other colleges...
and the saga continues....
m feeling lucky for the first time... otherwise i hav found myself always on the receiving side of it

IMHO:
Quant is important, but certainly not the sole criteria. If you want intelligence checking, then logical reasoning ques are probably better than quant.
I'm not convent-educated. English is very important, IMO, how else will you handle book-thick case studies, plus the huge number of textbooks and other info? It also checks your communication skills, which are important for a manager, or anybody, for that matter.

It is really unfortunate to know that luck plays more important part than other criteria. I was just trying to see how many times people have mentioned that they just turned out to be lucky to get calls frm XL and in almost all pages and almost all threads where people with poor GK and VA scores have mentioned that they find themselves lucky to get the call. Don't know if this is the right trend. I agree luck is also important but shud it be this important that people who fared badly in 2 sections get calls and those fared good in 2 sections donot get the call. Also odd cases of luck is fine but having so many people feeling lucky makes me feel the most unluckiest person...or probably i was sleeping
