Which one is better book for prelims preparation

CSAT Unique Quintessence of General Studies

or

General Studies for Services Preliminary Examination 2013 By TMH

@ninadgac both are equally good
but TMH is somewhat more famous
@lay_man sir i wnt to know from where to stdy polity so tht to get analytical approach..
@spartanx No , your final selections depends upon the sum total of marks ( i.e -2300 ) you secure in mains and interview . Even if everything goes wrong during the interview , you can make up with your written marks - provided you score very high . Acads , extra curricular , etc have nothing to do with it .
And yes UPSC is a totally a different game ; securing a 99 percentile in CAT or scoring heavy in IIT JEE -AIEEE phy/maths /chem ( I have done both of these with minimal preparation - as you say ) ain't gonna provide you any advantage over other candidates .

12,500 candidates qualify the civil services preliminary - no big deal here here. Start preparing for the mains examination directly - which is on a completely different level

I have a doubt regarding IES exams.....if we get selected in Military Engineering Services....will we get the same benefits of defense personnel like canteen facility, subsidized pay etc??

Puys! how to start for civils.

@cooldude13

This is what I was told by an acquaintance of mine who became an IAS last year. There is a possibility of pattern being changed for mains exams so as now invest yourself in reading NCERT books on History, Geography and Polity of India. Subscribe and diligently go through magazines like wizard, chronicle and CSR. Read the Hindu daily and wait for the notification for the clarity on mains exams pattern.
