@[612327:bhujbal]: yaar yahin kisi post mein they in pg. i got from here itself

puys plz ne1 guide me on hw to study indian polity 4m d d basu & lakshmikant. i m nt able 2 devise ne strategy 4 dat...thnx n adv..

thnx ....

its for d first tym dat i m appearing for such exam ... would u pls guide me abt d competition level of APFC nd sum strategies for it...it would be grt help,,

@[541001:sourabhgupta78]: yaar i am not a pro but can certainly help you out a bit in polity atleast.
D D Basu is like bhagwat gita. mother of all knowledge. but it is something which for the first tym might sound you a bit boring. laxmikanth is the one which actually suffice for the exam. divide the chapters in certain parts and try to finish certain number of pages each day lyk 8 or 10. in such way it would be over in arnd 2 months. then after that c last yr papers. if you feel that you can atlst think of qstns as u have read them somewhere then u wont require reading basu(which i am dead sure). then ur target shud be to finish the book 5-6 times thoroughly before prelims.but if u lyk studying basu then do it after 1st reading of laxmikanth not b4 that else it will take lot of urs tym
gud luck

@[612327:bhujbal]: since exam is just a month away from now, so first may i know ki what ur status is at present regarding level of preparation

:firstly i hv just gone through all d sub except history nd polity nd labour law...BONNYDUSHYANT

@[612327:bhujbal]: that is really great that you have done much of it. now last month strategy shud be consolidate what all you have studied till now. revise them as much as u can with proper question practise. both from previous years as well as sample papers. just check one thing the last tym when exam was conducted, the pattern of UPSC was asking more of factual questions but off late it has been asking concept based question whether it is IAS,IES,IFoS. so be prepared ull might find that pattern here also which would be quite diffrent from previous years papers.
now concerning history n polity. to yaar history mein spectrum and polity mein laxmikanth se better kuch nahin hai. but since u have less time to m not sure ki kitne achhe se kar pao. i think if you have bought earlier any specific book for APFC usse cover kar lo ya koi GS manual like TMH etc ho to usse cover kar lo. NCERT books bhi tumhara kaam kar skti hain. look whatever suits u best among such options
good luck

@[607444:BONNYDUSHYANT]: ... thanx for ur valuable guidance....

c an anybody suggest how upsc program of gk today is, in terms of quality and content???

@[607444:BONNYDUSHYANT]: can u pls tell wat would be a safe score or no of ques which should be attempted in order to qualify d exam

@[612327:bhujbal]: how can i tell you this??
but do you think any one predicting the same has what authority to say so. the cut-off of any year in any exam is always a particular case. you cannot generalise the case. your strategy should be simple. attempt 1st all of those in which u r dead sure at one go, in another round the one with 75% surity, 50% in net and so on. do check instrucations earlier negative was not there. u can not tell for this time

The Cut Offs of The APFC Exam 2004. The Reply I got From UPSC is as Follows :

1) Sectional Cut Off : There was no sectional cut off in each part of the General Abilty Test i.e. Part A- English & Part B - General Studies

2) Category wise Cut Off: Category wise minimum level of suitability of marks for the written test were as follows

UR - 71 OBC - 66 SC - 63 ST - 62 PH (OH) - 59

Please Note That The Maximum Marks Was 100
