@djcoolhunk01 said:GS MANUAL BY TMH is the best among others..+ NCERT(history,geog,polity,economy...etc)
Ya dear,
Many MCQ's are wrong in it beaware of it ...
BEST ATLAS will be orient blackswan atlas most comprehensive...
For Paper 1 which i think is the troublesome for many CSE Aspirants can Easily prepared if u pplz study from some standard & basic books only, here i mean NCERT , A good GS Mannual PLUS INDIA YEAR BOOK & ECONOMIC SURVEY.
For Newbies : It s a Generalist Examination now the question arises Who Is A generalist??
A generalist Is A person who knows Less and Less of More & More or Jack of all trade Master Of None
@[600930:prateekvasudev]: first read complete notification from upsc.gov.in
after that you can approach various blogs to proceed. some may be
1. mrunal.org
2. gokul1988.wordpress.com
there are many others
@[414980:powermatrix] : TMH is the best. go for it. but it is not the only one. you need to supplement with many others.
@[414980:powermatrix]: i would suggest orient longman atlas and oxford student atlas to be equally good. but longman might slightly better.
@[582085:tan009]: dude i one advice i would like to give in general that i very big idea is always hovering around in CSE that this subject is scoring and that is not. point is what do you like to read and for can you read commerce for 2-3 years. this year om kasera scored very high marks in commerce. people score over 400 even in science subjects which are considered to be extremely tough. so it all is about your comfort level
@[514040:hellorajesh]: no doubt delhi has better availablity for resources, guidance and material. but a last it comes down to your commitment and comfort level. coaching would provide you guidance but it is you smart work that would lead you in. check for the syllabus, see last 10 years papers. explore internet for good books and get down to business. if you can study at home without any disturbance then it would be the best choice. but just exploit internet during your preparation
@[575631:Sahilth]: in my opinion if you have got campus placement then join it for 1st year. utilize this period for building base. like newspaper, magazine, ncerts etc. then when you think you are ready to take the plunge go for it.
@[600930:prateekvasudev]: read him. the chap got 19th rank last year with public administration and that too self preparation gokul1988.wordpress.com
@[137702:manojks]: see this. he got 17th rank with commerce http://mrunal.org/2012/05/topper-om-air17-cse2011.html
@[541001:sourabhgupta78]: strahler is the best book for the physical. but consider the fact that you are not required as the geographer but as an administrator. savinder is more than enough for paper 1 section A. But yes in syllabus certain questions you will not find in this book. for that you refer made simple series by rupa publication http://www.flipkart.com/physical-geography-made-simple-books-000100011x/p/itmczyhref9zzkgw?pid=9780001000117
@[511874:Tony24]: "The rupee's fall in recent times symbolizes all that has gone wrong with the macro-economic situation in the country." Explain.
In the recent past Rupee has seen 22% decline since august last year, not a good sign for a currency venturing an idea for being an alternate international currency. the reasons for such a debacle are many and can be attributed to both the external as well as internal factors.
to start with the europe, certainly the crisis there has left bulk investors in a lurch, grappling for a safe heaven, which they find only in the US dollars. consequntly the value of Dollars increases against all currency. The situation is further aggravated by slowing down of chinese economy and still recovering japan from fukushima disaster.
Within the economy, there has been high two way flow of FIIs which has again made Rupee vulnerable to external factors, assisted by slowing down of FDIs thus reducing the demand for indian currency. this is assisted by policy paralysis in the fiscal space created by inaction on part of the government which has further aliniated potential investors from the country. The long stalled Posco project still grapples to get land as well as environmental clearences, delhi-mumbai industrial corridor as well as the delhi-mumbai and delhi-kolkata frieght corridor are yet to see the light. similarly there are various other reforms-in-waiting which have played their respective roles in keeping the rupee less in demand which include FDI in multi brand retail, increased FDI in civil aviation as well as pension sector.
Thus the fall in rupee is not just a one-off affair or solely the result of eurozone crisis, but is the loosening of investor's interest from indian economy symbolizing that a lot is wrong in the macro-economic condition of the country
