Also, there is an information session in Mumbai next Sunday, September 18, 2011. Anyone up for that?

I am in and will most probably apply for Darden in R1.

The essay doesnt make much sense to me. Your thoughts on what are they trying to access?

Yeah, this the info session week; delhi one is on 15th sep.

What's your profile? and Why did you choose Darden?

My stats

gmat - 720/5.5
exp - IT (2.5 yrs) + Marketing Analytics and consulting (1.5 yrs) till now
EC - diverse and shud be gud
Comm - x with lim x->0 :D

However, I am worried about the funding and that's why it is the only top 15 school I am applying to !!

Well, I saw your post on Ross's thread too; You bet, the number of applicants here this year is far lower than what it was last year. Macroeconomic factors ?

Hi Emin3m,
Darden seems to have only one long essay. And I liked the fact that they are neither looking for crystal-clear career goals, nor do they want candidates to suck up to the college.
The essay as such seems like a chance to display your understanding of your work environment and the industry. Something very doable, I think.

About my profile:
Indian IT Male, Pune based, 4.5 years exp at the time of admit,
ECs - nothing special since college.
Gmat - 750/5.5

Am not thinking about funding too much. Haven't been good at networking with others to find out more details about a lot of things. So for now, have decided to focus mainly on apps, hoping that things will fall in place.

Let's see how many people turn up for the Info Session in Mumbai.

Im applying to Darden as well this year. Not started on the essay as yet, but planning to this week. There is a 150 word elevator pitch as well just incase you guys weren't aware of that.

WE: 2 years 3 months as of now.
GMAT- 710 AWA6.0
Undergrad: BA. economics.

The information session in Chennai was amazing apparently. I heard from a friend and the Dean tweeted about it as well. I, unfortunately, will not be able to attend the mumbai session as im travelling on work. Quite bummed about it, but nothing i can do.

Hows the application going for you guys?

Did anyone of you attend the info session in Delhi today?

I missed it because of work :banghead: I am sure the session would have helped me in finalizing whether to go with the app or not.

A 100k loan seems too much to take. Any idea how is Darden with $$$ ?

I'm planning to attend the session in Mumbai. It's on this Sunday but travelling from Pune to Mumbai for a two hour session is not very exciting. Let's see. Will update you if I find some company to travel with me.

@arch4mba- The admissions event list is on the darden events page when u click on "Apply". This gives a list of all events around the world. Additionally, Dean Bob Bruner tweeted about it when he was there.

But just to help u with ur application, i would suggest you dig a little deeper on websites to find out how schools are reaching out to potential applicants. This will not only help you understand more about the school but also show your interest and the intiative you took to get closer to the school. It adds few points thats for sure!

Anyway, the Mumbai event is happening this sunday and im attending since work travel got cancelled. Any one else attending??

In an interview with Darden's Associate Director of Admissions Wendy Huber, this was one of the questions we posed to her. Here's her response:

Question:
MBA Financing can be a hurdle for international students. What are the various forms of financial assistance at Darden?

Wendy Huber:
Darden has always offered a loan program for international students without the requirement of a U.S. co-signer. Each year, we renegotiate the loan program to try to get our students the best possible terms.

Additionally, Darden has a wide variety of scholarships that are open to international students, some of which are specific to applicants from specific countries. All applicants are automatically considered for scholarships

Got a mail which said

"Congratulations! You have been invited to interview remotely with the Darden School of Business. To schedule your remote interview, please login to your application account and click on the interview link to select a date and time. (Please note that the times listed in the system are in Eastern Standard Time.) We prefer to use Skype for the interview but are willing to conduct a phone interview if needed"

It is time to get my act together and get ready for the grand finale..:-)

HEllo puys !

I was wondering if the interview invites have been sent.
I have received no mail except for application received. The application page too does not show any updates other than 'Application Submitted'.

I had a query: was there a notification / status change in your application before you get an interview invite.

My profile:

Computer Engineer - Good Academics

Darden is a very good school. A favourite among consulting firms.

It doesn't have a 'marketing' or 'finance' label stuck on it as is the case with schools like Kellogg or Chicago Booth. In the speciality rankings Darden doesn't figure in either of these streams.

But with most top schools you can target pretty much any industry, IF you are willing to take the reins of networking and job hunting in your hands.
