I want to appear for TOEFL but at Delhi all dates seemed to be booked for CBT. Though plenty of dates are available for IBT. Is IBT become a norm at all univs. Can anybody suggest is it ok to appear for IBT.
Also I heard that IBT is much tougher than CBT. Is it true?

You can go ahead and book a date for IBT. All the schools i know accept IBT scores. It is better u get that confirmed from the schools though. You can actually check the "Test Scores" section of the online app. If u havent started an app now, u need to mail to the AdComms. But for all that i know, you shudnt have any issues.
Reg difficulty levels - i wudnt be able to answer as i dont even know someone who took the IBT. i've seen the IBT brochure and the test sure looks more complex than CBT. But i am not sure if that makes the test tougher. In my opinion, it shud still be easy to crack for the average Indian applicant who has had decent education in English
hey - what happened to ur TOEFL i got my scores. A perfect 300
nothing concrete yet. i have to travel next weekend and still not decided on the duration of the travel. once that is settled, i wud be able to make a better guess. i wud know by tuesday i guess.
shudn't be much of a problem since iBT dates are available in delhi all the time.

bhai mere. as if you have options. i'm in the same boat. screw these americans
I have a question regarding Toefl iBT scores. I gave my toefl on 23rd sep and ve got my raw scores, which I checked on the ets website. But how do i get to know my percentile scores?
Is it going to be a part of the score card that will be mailed to me?
I even called up ETS ...bt those guys didnt help me much.

I gave the iBt earlier this month, and had also given the CBT way back in 2002. It's more integrated now, as in : several tasks involve 2 or more of speaking / listening / reading / writing.
So a test taker needs to have a good grasp of handling all these tasks together, but then as Iday has mentioned : It shouldn't be too difficult for most of us who've had an English based medium of education.
I'd got a perfect score on the CBT earlier... am looking forward to see if I can match that in the IBT ;)
Would be happy to help if anyone has qns on the TOEFL iBT.
Emory already had a TOEFL waiver for Indians. For Tepper schools of business, CMU, i requested for one and got it . so no TOEFL for me. btw, i heard from someone that more than the university requirement, TOEFL is the VISA requirement. can anyone clarify this? thanks

I dont think TOEFL is a Visa requirement per se. The Visa site only mentions that u must have taken the necessary tests like SAT, GMAT, GRE or TOEFL. I think it would suffice if u flaunt ur GMAT score and show them print outs of the school's web page that specifies the waiver clause or the mail in which they waived ur TOEFL requirement (and perhaps also carry proof of the conditions under which the waiver is valid).
This is completely my take on this though. Anyone with prior experience or more direct info can correct me if i am wrong anywhere 😃
Just wanted to confirm with people, i got toefl scorecard ... it is only showing details of two colleges with their department code... i have sent the score to 4 colleges ... has any faced the same problem...
Thanks Amit- great news. BTW good to see that you've already given interviews for your schools. Good luck with the final decisions.
And thanks for offering to help. I am doing some groundwork these days. I'll come back shooting with the questions!
i need every bit of luck for that mate ! me ready for ur questions 😃 btw, you in mumbai by any chance - we can easily talk over the phone. one more thing - most of the univs do give a TOEFL waiver; just mail them individually or search their site; you will get the answer. for example, Tepper explicitly is not waiving TOEFL but read here Tepper School of Business :: Frequently Asked Questions it provides us with a way out to achieve the same 😃
Another piece of info that could be useful to those who're planning to apply to Queen's MBA (www.queensmba.com): Try asking them via e-mail with your academic background / GMAT verbal+AWA scores. They may waive off TOEFL for you.

Which TOEFL exam is that? iBT or CBT?
You won't get get your TOEFL iBT scores until 15 working days after the TOEFL exam dates. Is that OK with your plans to include that with Michigan application?

Do your homework. Go to the sites of these schools and check. At least go to the respective threads and check.
I applied to Michigan without TOEFL. Emailed them and got a waiver. Guess you can do that for the schools that you have mentioned. There are a couple of schools that insist on TOEFl. Most don't.

I don't know how CBT works.
CBT did give a range of score at the end of exam...the actual score comes after 15 working days or so....
However CBT is no longer offered in India.
@MastBombay ... Friend keep the 15 working days in ur planning the dates. Also at the end of these 15 days you will be in a position to self report the scores..the official hard copy (which the schools may want) will take even longer.
As SusieDerkins had advised do get in touch with the universities.
Also, in case the university insists on the Toefl score...you can ask them if you can report it later and have ur application be considered in the same round.
