Q.
The legacy of colonial rule imparted to the public sphere in independent India has an internally contradictory character. In terms of conception and constitution the public sphere was democratic and secular, but it was not so in practice. Several sections such as women and Dalits were excluded, and by and large it remained a preserve of the educated upper castes. —————————

aMoreover, the public sphere took shape within the political, social and economic parameters set by the colonial government.
bMoreover, either created or controlled by the colonial bureaucracy, their democratic rights were considerably restricted.
cMoreover, those excluded were unaware of their democratic rights and hence their participation was restricted by their lack of knowledge.
dMoreover, the ambivalence of the colonial state with its liberal pretensions and authoritarian compulsions penetrated into the character of the public sphere.
eNone of these

Pls provide the xplanation along with the choice......

i am not sure of what i am about to say... had it been in an exam i would have marked B.... when we say "moreover" we are actually strengthening the existing idea... the main idea to be strenghtened here is that colonial rule was contradictory in nature,,, which i guess B strenghtens... please pardon me if answer is wrong.. i am naive in VA

i guess when last line says they were excluded... then they did not have rights specified by the colonial rule in the 1st place... so unaware might not be fit... i attempt all these questions on feel... infact i am sure most of us does so... but u can use logic to eliminate some options... i might b wrong.. just sharing my view...

PS: signature pe mat jao yar... yeh toh PG ki meherbaani hai... ab toh khud ke dum kuch karne ka waqt aa gaya
