I joined TCS through campus placement, and we had the option of verifying and editing the information given at a later stage, through college. Your case, I'm not sure how it works. I would suggest you call up HR personnel and explain the situation, they would help.
Hi friends,

I have 8 years of experience and have recently got a job offer from TCS.

While filling out the details, I made a small mistake. I did not have access to my marksheets and I have overstated by 2-3% my percentage for 12th and my graduation (BCA). The stated and actual percentages are in 50-55% bracket. Also, for my 10th and Masters, I have understated my percentages by 3-4%. It was an honest mistake.

Could this be an issue with the background verification process? the process was initiated almost 3 weeks ago and this struck me now!

For BCA, marks claimed are 55% actual marks are 52%.

For MCM, marks claimed are 64%, actual are 61%.

For 12th, claimed are 54%, actual are 52% and for 10th, claimed are 68% and actual are 69%

The deviation is not more than 2-3%.

How can one forget these numbers????:sneaky:
We remember our 10th,12th percentages till old age.
Sorry but this will be considered as fraud (even if its not).
So asap email the HR abt this along wid a solid reason that y did u furnish wrong details at first place.

M recruited in ITIS (Infrastructure Services) domain. I'm from a Grade A clg but haven't got joining. Any1 who has been in ITIS plz rply if the joining of ITIS guyz is usually late or it can come b4 Oct./Nov?

has it ever happened that due to bad economic conditions like in 2008-09, fresher ASE's have not got joining letters? offers have been canceled?

TCS is not going to do that. This is time all the service provider companies are in profit not in loss. TCS is not in loss too.

Thanx Suraj, it helps a lot. Actually at the time of recruitment itself, ppl wer bifurcated along the lines of EIS, IS and IT (General). All my batchmates who were in IT and EIS got their joining date, but only the IS candidates all over India have not got their joining date.
As I belong from a grade A college, my batchmates got the joining in the month of June itself. But so signs of JL for IS.
Btw r u currently wrkng in TCS?

Dear All,
I have 5 yrs of exp. in as an techno functional ERP consultant. I currently got an offer from TCS and Mahindra satyam.
Both offers are decent, but package that of Satyam is around 70K more than that of TCS.
Still I prefer TCS over satyam.
But, my only point of concern is the variable part in overall compensation structure of TCS, which sums up to 29K monthly(23500 will be monthly. Rest 5500 is also monthly but paid quarterly) and they have again added a retention incentive clause of 73k in the salary structure.

Does anyone has any Idea why is the variable pay so much? and what are all the criteria that I need to fulfill in order to get the total amount of my variable(Monthly as well as quarterly). Is the variable this much for every one ?


A reply will really be helpfull to sort things out at my end.

variable component is a dicey thing.In TCS salary increment is based on grading on an annual basis,so if u get an average rating say C(A is the max), your salary increment would be marginal for the year as your variable component is more

Thanks for your reply.
Is this variable paid in full ?? I can understand about quarterly variable, that it depends on the project and what time I spend on bench etc etc, but the monthly variable part? will it be paid in full?

They have given me a grade of C2. That means my increment for the coming year will not be good enough. What is the increment cycle in TCS? Like if I join this month, will my increment be done in march 2013 ?

Yes ,monthly variable is paid in full.Yes you can expect an increment in march 2013 after the annual
appraisal but as i said if u get a good grade(say B) u can expect a good rise, otherwise ur high variable component would play spoilsport

Then Y have they named it a variable component. I spend a hell lot of time to search, that on what all parameters these monthly variables depends!

So these grades are decided in each and every performance review? Or what ever the grade they have assigned me now(i.e. C2) will be applicable for my next increment.?

Can anyone give a brief idea about the roles and salaries offered by TCS to MBA grads from IIM's and other good management colleges.

Also how good are the travel opportunities.

Really wanted to join TCS.. but only point of concern is the Variable !!.. even thought the HR told me that it will be paid in full(or something like that)..but again.. the name variable itself is dicey!!!
How are the things in Satyam?.. any Idea.. Satyam Hr are even saying that it is an on site opportunity!!
