i will be completing my 1st yr this december...the hike depends on the rating that one gets...however in most of the cases, there is a hike of approx 25k i.e from 3.15lpa one can get to 3.40lpa....however with good ratings, you can get a hike of even 40k/annum...

Can anyone shed some light on global consulting practice of TCS. What is it all about? Is it all consulting or something different? I have my summer internship at Retail consulting division of GCP,TCS. Specifics of my query includes:
1) what should I expect at GCP,TCS during internship?
2) What would be the location and all given(the offer letter is yet to come)?
3)Do they have a PPO policy?If so what salary do they offer?
4)How much do they offer in the final placements?
5)What could be the future growth path at GCP,TCS?
6)How does it integrate with TCS as a whole?
I am currently placed in tcs...i wanted to persue some executive courses from IIM-C or IIM-B.these courses are about the software management,so i wanted to know what sort of hike and pay ill get after doing these course from IIM....and is it beneficial for me to do PGDM for AIMA as i am a BTECH....seniors please help me...

my 2 pence .... firstly do not look at any value addition in terms of just a pay hike ...go ahead and do it , study of a new subject will never fail to get u a ROI in the long term...:) secondly , if u do wish to do an MBA -that too I mean from the value add perspective not just for pay hike ....do it a regular 2 year one , if age and finance is not a constraint.......I remember my post B Tech years ( I graduated in 1995).....I invested a lot in learning new things , I learnt a few languages , a diploma in Business Management, subscribed to IGNOU MBA and AIMA PGDM (could not complete both) . tried CAT many a times , finally was able to do an MBA from IITR in 2004 -06 and I am very satisfied the path I took ,last I was a Sr PM in Infosys .....now planning to be on my own......

thnx for the reply....finance is not a prob for me....but yes time is a big constraint for me...is AIMA pgdm worth doing as u were subscribed to it so u can better tell me..i want to peruse my studies widout giving a break in my professional life,i mean i want to go for distance learning thngs form AIMA(PGDM-IT),so will dat be beneficial? I dont have any problem in learning new thngs my concerns is dat i must get good return for dat,so dat i dont feel disgusted after doing whole lot of hard work.
hii friends & respected Seniors,i have a query regarding the recruitments oF IT Giants Like Infosys frm MBA sector(specifically IT Domain Grads)considering i do ITBM frm a reputed college like SCIT Pune(Symbiosis Center for IT)....i wanted to know the kind of profiles they offer to ITBM(IT Business mangement) people,and the "PACKAGE" they offer for that same....as i hv seen many hv been recruited as Associate Consultant(at Infosys) and Management Trainee(at TCS) as a fresher,so if this is one of the profile a fresher is offered,thn what was the package offered to them??,and what role basically they will play at the Industry
Secondly what are the recruitment procedure for Infosys on campus,that is do they conduct aptitute test like in that of engineering campus or gives a direct offer for interview?

1. Companies have their own caterories of colleges. Only HRs can tell u wich clg has been placed in wich category.Compensation depends on that. For same profile and designation, an IIM guy will be offered more than say clg of some other instt.
2.Once u r selected in some company. Get some work ex. Then post ur resume on job portals of oder companies and forward it 2 ur frnds in other companies. U may get a call and then may be an offer. This is switch.

This sounds like a good deal given the number of years of workex you have. TCS generally pays maintaining a certain ration so it sounds OK to me.
Do care to know for what role are you being hired ? Will you team contributor or a team leader ? Generally people who are ITA are in the role of a team lead, not absolutely but generally. You might want to check up on that in case you have not.
BTW, What technology are you a part of ?

When you are already part of the course,No certification helps you getting a hike more than normal..ur profile may change.. u need to switch to be appreciated by the quoted company...

even I had the same doubt. Now dat H2 appraisal is on its way ..do we need to quickly take certifications to get a higher rating? Higher rating means more hike right. We had an appraisal workshop recently but I am still confused. I am completing two years in March.
