Hi,
1. One Lakh by 17 June 2010
2. Two lakh ten thous by 23 June 2010.
Pretty close deadlines.I guess due to the fast approaching start date. But will have a hectic week ahead trying to arrange for loans!
Why dont you call the office and get your w/l no. (in case you havent done that already)? They were very helpful.
I dont know my exact waitlist number as they refused to divulge that. But they did tell me that I have very very high chances of conversion if the 60 additional seats get approved. So all I can do is wait for that now.
Congrats on the convert and have a great time at TAPMI
hi all
i had a talk with sudip sir today to inquire about the AICTE approval for the sectoral courses and he said that things should be clear in two weeks. he said that the approval should come.
Hi. Did you ask him about the additional PGDM seats? I have been trying to call since two days but nobody is picking the phone there.

Two weeks...? That is still some days ago.. Did he actually mean that. Because when I talked to him he said things would settle down soon although he did not give any dates still.
Talking to him I got the vibe that the institute might get approval for all the seats. He sounded confident.
What do you reckon puys? Will they?
No puy can answer that confidently, mate.
Just wait and wait.
One thing is for sure though:
There will still be movement in the PGDM seats.
As it's going to be very difficult for guys with work ex to reach campus within 10-12 days (for whatever small movement is expected in remaining 15-18 seats + 60 PGDM seats subject to AICTE approval) of intimation of a convert, on 1st July :nono:

iim.dude SaysHi. Did you ask him about the additional PGDM seats? I have been trying to call since two days but nobody is picking the phone there.
By AICTE approval he meant the approval for all the courses which is still pending. that definitely includes the additional 60 seats for pgdm.
i would want to ask all of you here, how good are the sectoral courses started out by the college.. if anyone can speculate on whether a person should join these courses or not..
hi puys
many many congrats to all those hu converted....grt feeling i must say
yesterday my dad was there at tapmi just to see campus n stuff and he met sudeep sir also and asked him that my son is waiting fr confirmation from your side regarding joining TAPMI late....then my dad called me and handed over phn to sudeep sir and he felt sorry which was embarrasing fr me fr nt replying to my mail even after 2 reminders.....

he immediately responded and now i have relief of joining tapmi after complete sign off from my organisation.....
thnx to sudeep sir he is simply grt....
was waitlisted at 16 earlier, got selected at tapmi PGDM today..Now :cheers: only until joining...
u made it 2 PGDM directly from the sectoral course or directly from the waitlist?
1. From Mangalore Airport: Take a cab directly to TAPMI. Would costaround Rs 850-950. But since its your first time at TAPMI, assuming you would have luggage and some of you might be coming with your parents, this is the most comfortable way to reach college.
2. From Mangalore Station:
a) Take a cab directly to TAPMI. Would cost around Rs 850. Advisible if you are coming with your parents
b) If coming alone, and in the mood of saving some bucks, take an auto from station to the Mangalore bus stand (Tell the Auto driver that you want to catch a bus to Manipal). The auto would cost around Rs 25 to 30. From bus station, catch a bus which goes to Manipal (and does not terminate at Udupi). Get Down at Tiger Circle (Manipal). The Bus ticket would cost around Rs 38 while the journey would take around 2 Hours. From Tiger circle take an auto to TAPMI. The auto should charge Rs 70 - 80.
3. From Udupi Station: Take an Auto to TAPMI. Would cost somewhere around Rs 150 - 200.
4. From Bangalore Station: You will get lot of busses to Manipal. Preferable to take the night busses which are VOLVO (Semi Sleeper) or Sleeper Busses (Private travels - One of the most common is Durgamba Travels). Bus ticket would cost between Rs 500 to 550. The busses would drop you at Tiger Circle, Manipal. From there, take an Auto to TAPMI.

i would want to ask all of you here, how good are the sectoral courses started out by the college.. if anyone can speculate on whether a person should join these courses or not..
Sectoral courses seem to be nice but
1)Faculty is reluctant to come to manipal so faculty crunch will be there
2)Industry partnerships and high level alumni interaction highly required and here also, the locational disadvantage will play spoilsport.
3)BFS and HCM seems like a clear winner to me. No information about IB is given out but calls have been given-which by the way is utterly irresponsible by the college-why and how should a student decide to take a course if the course details not available that too for a course thats just started out?
4)AICTE approval is required because if you are really looking for a exceptionally good national or even an international career you might go for higher studies directly or indirectly which will require the AICTE approval and lets face it, this is not ISB. In about 5-8 years time mba will be as common place as engineering is and then you would want to differentiate, that is if you are really serious about your career.
Know what you want before you dip into anything, its not just about the college but also about you. Be clear of short term, medium term and long term goals.
I am writing this post on behalf of all the people who are in the waitlist and expecting to get in provided the additional seats get approved. They may have information from the admissions office that they will get selected provided the approval comes through. This is not to speculate when the approval will come as nobody can say for sure. But there are a few questions which need answers for us waitlisters to decide now. Seniors and all are please welcome to comment and advise on the below.
Let us firstly assume that AICTE approval does come through (hoping for the best).
1) Suppose the AICTE approval comes late (say around June 25th or so). Will TAPMI take back the joining date for the last 60 seats? Even application for loans would take around a week.
2) Many working ppl will get selected in the 60. They are going to face lots of problems with relieving dates, collection of work ex certis, salary dues etc etc. So for ppl who know they are within the range of waitlist numbers for conversion, will it be wise to resign from their jobs right now? Is this calculated risk justified?
3) Most of these ppl will miss the 2 day induction programme for sure (if not more days). Can seniors please advise if they will really miss out on a lot? Is it ok to join like say around 10th July (if college permits)? Will we miss out on a lot of studies and fundas? Will it be tough to cope through the year then? Seniors or ppl with similar exp last year please comment.
4) I assume bulk laptop deals will be taking place in the initial few days. Will late joiners be in a position to join the group later for these bulk deals coz there are chances that payment and all of others would be done by say around 10th July.
5) Also, assuming that 1st July remains the final joining date, what is the latest that a person can join? How many days after the joining date did the last person join for our senior batch?
I could only think of these points. If any other similar point comes to mind of any waitlister/convert/senior please post here so that all waitlisted candidates are advised.
I am perplexed by these doubts as my fate hangs in balance. I am sure there are several others too. All help in any manner is welcome for us now.
These questions need to be addressed now. But still a larger questions loom over us. Will they finally get it? When will they get it? Agreed TAPMI is doing its level best to get the approval as the institute itself wants to optimize the use of its existing infrastructure and also work on towards better branding. But, I still believe that the whole issue could have been handled in a better way. The institute sounds confident that it will get the approval & that is why they released the list of sectoral courses. But with each passing day, the situation looks grim. Only a couple of weeks to go before classes commence & still no whereabouts of the 240 seats. I do not want to comment further on the college which I intend to join.
The resignation process, loan process, ticketing & other arrangements are sure to take some time and frankly speaking I am not expecting any exemption for 60 students in the next list. Please provide me the answer soon enough, that is all I need. I'll manage others somehow. I understand that this might not be easy for all of us. But the root cause of all these issues is still the same; if & when approval will come.
Even though the risk is calculated, it is still a huge one. When I asked the same question to the person in the Admissions Dept.(I believe he was Sudeep Sir), he almost assured me that approval would come & fell just short of commenting any dates. He sounded certain & confident.
But keeping all these things aside, I still reckon this is a huge gamble. Talk to the Admissions Dept. once, judge the response you get & then decide. In fact, I'll recommend you to play a different game. Instead, make things clear in your office that chances are you might join the institute & you are having thoughts. This thing worked for me. I understand that this might not work for every boss & every organization, but this seems safest bet.
I got the medical fitness certificate from a local clinic 2day. The content is as follows:
----------------------------------
Certified that I have examined
----------------------------------
@seniors plz tell me if the content is fine or any other lines need 2 b included.
No updates were expected today but still for some strange reason, I kept on checking PG & the TAPMI web site whole day. I think this is hope. This explains how badly are we searching for answers. Tomorrow..another day, another hope...one more process for making the calls to the institute in search of the answer. Really, desperate times have come for me as I will have to lose a substantial amount if I don't get the answer in 2-3 days.
hey puys, hope you are all good...
i got a mail from TAPMI, and i am quite not able to get anything out of it...i'm quoting the contents of the mail here..
