Agreed. You've also got to take into account the expense of your blazer, commuting expenses from your home town to TAPMI, commuting expenses of your family coming to meet you @ Manipal.
All in all, you've gotta take a conservative figure of 11 lakh. It can also go up to 12 lakhs over 2 years.
But it would definitely be worth it, I think. An MBA from one of the Top 20 B-Schools doesn't happen very often!

Hey man don't get disheartened...if one door closes then there are other doors opening for u...
Now as far as the account is concerned most banks ask for that since as per RBI rules KYC( Know Your Customer) they ask that.
Also creating an account in a bank is not that a tedious task (i know can be cumbersome at times but for a loan we need to do it).To add to that in case if u have some solid documents then the some bank(chk BOB) might consider ur case without a account also.

HDFC @11% for TAPMI no collateral required u can get loan upto 12 lakhs but you need to have strong third party guarantor in case your father's IT file is not that strong

Dude you dont have to pay the entire 5 lacs at one go. That way you will lose interest to be accrued on this huge amount.
Here is a better way to go about things. First go to a bank and put the entire amount in fixed deposit. Now, ask the bank to give you a overdraft loan on this FD. Banks generally give upto 90% of FD amount as loan on overdraft.
Here is the math which makes this deal useful
Interest you earn on the FD : around 8%
Interest you pay on the overdraft loan : 9%
Net interest paid : 1%
So, in essence instead of losing out on all 8% when you pay the amount directly you can pay 1% and keep the money in FD. You can repay the amount after you start earning and get back the FD.

I think we will get the certificate from manipal university finally and not from TAPMI...., so we have got to explain to everyone the whole story.. i mean saying that "I am actually from TAPMI and not manipal university..blah blah.." ...may be even while shifting jobs we will have to do the same..
Hope we get some document to show clearly that we studied at TAPMI.....I think dats very important puys..what do you say??

Nobody will ask you later while you shift jobs whether you did a course that was affiliated to AICTE or not but they will ask you where you did your MBA from. That's it, which is why students like you and me are dying to get a seat in TAPMI.

Personally, TAPMI will provide you with placements. Thereafter for changing jobs more than the university what matters is what you have done at your previous job. And Manipal University is pretty reputed and your CV will have TAPMI as your PGDM institute. So, no worries.

I went to numerous banks yesterday to fetch loan detail & documents required...
All banks are asking for AICTE affiliation ... I have converted TAPMI-PGDM.but how to show the banks the proof of AICTE affiliation.I mean which document will suffice the purpose?

I dont think so there will be "TAPMI" anywhere on the certificate ...like in my engineering my college was affiliated to a university and the certificate bore only the name of the university..but not the college I studied in....
I think we will have our TAPMI ID cards atleast ....and I assume that TAPMI would give our TC and CC ( if they are given in B schools , I dont know that

There are certain things i want to say.
First TAPMI has tie ups with HDFC, corporation and syndicate bank,
so why is every one going to sbi. The education loan rate at sbi is around 11.5% whereas in syndicate bank it is 10%.
Second thing is that has anyone confirmed that manipal university is not affiliated with AICTE or its courses are not recognized by AICTE.
Third the companies coming to TAPMI know that the student has studied in TAPMI and hence the degree offered by manipal university will not have any disadvantage.
Finally it is a good possibility that the institute will get all its courses approved by AICTE so guys just wait for that.

When i approached the syndicate bank near my house, the person had no idea about TAPMI.. he said that if i ask for a loan of up to 7.5 lacs, they'll need collateral and a third party guarantor.. rate of interest 10.5%.. since he didn't know about TAPMI, i couldn't convince him that TAPMI has tie-ups with the bank.. if i showed proof of that, then probably interest rate would be lower..plus, they also prefer that u have an account with the bank..

Agree with u dheeru though my status is selcted now the wait for first list on May 11th killed me like any thing i know this pain and we can hardly do anything at thios juncture except to pray to god
.I hope they will come up with results very fast what i dont understand is AICTE gys gives approvals to engg colleges which hardly have 1 builidng very fast problem comes to them when some premier institues like tapmi ask for the same any ways i pray on behalf of all aspirants cheer up for time being:)

are the results being delayed to get aicte approval??? personally I dont think so , as sudeep sir himself said these course would MOST LIKELY start under manipal university...may be there might be last minute drama...
all in all the draining effect is on us...and it is really sapping me...
