Hi guys,
I converted TAPMI call on this 11th. Now that i got through SP Jain, i will soon be sending a mail to TAPMI about my decision of not taking up the offer. So waitlist moves by one more number. :)
All the best to all.
Thanks
Aparna
ankit16 Sayshey puys i called the admissions office he told me that my rank is around 600 so very little chance for pgdm i think its over for me this year thought it might be helpful i mean more than 600 calls have been given and uptil now they have cleared upto rank 200...
hey puys can anyone comment on my case..? i mean.. what r my chances..??
it would help me take a decesion

If i am not wrong, you said tat ur 600th RANK and upto 200 ranks calls were given..tat means ur current waitlist no is 400.. If TAPMI starts all the courses that they mentioned, there are 240 calls yet to be given.. If the wait-list order remains almost same for other courses, you have fair enough chance for other courses..(this is my opinion)

This is regarding bold part..
some of my teammates have done their grad. from manipal and they were saying engg from manipal university have good rapo but management degree not that good.
so how much it affect the new courses..... it might be just affilation from a university and very much depend on inst. and i trust TAPMI for its credibility...
and also if next year TAPMI got AICTE approval then it will be only for 11-13 or it will also applied to 10-12 batch...
I know seniors don't have much information about this.... but may be many puys like me wondering about these things so any information about this is very much welcome, even groans

my understanding on the above topic (as far as i cud ask Dean sir in my interview) :
BFS,IB etc course structure : Designed by Tapmi
Teaching/Learning process : Same for all the students irrespective of course since faculties would be from Tapmi
Degree awarded : MBA from Maipal University
Placements : All will be sitting for their placements together(as per dean) , but not sure abt any pre-conditions that the prospective recruiters may put.
Demand for course : BFS for sure it a hot choice not researched abt rest
Chances for candidates/W/L candiddates : Pretty gud since a new course so bound to be lot of movement in list
Last but not the least it all boils down how much desparate u r to do an MBA and how much capable you r to carry urself once done with that course( all abt ur abilities)
Hope this info helps!!
anshul.delhi SaysMe too didnt receive any confirmation via mail. I guess they will dispatch the mails after 20th May only after collecting all the DDs received till 20th.
hey.. did u get any confirmation for the first DD (Rs.1lac) tht u sent??
really confused...can any senior throw some light on whether BFS/IB from manipal univ. will be worth or not???
until the course is not AICTE approved non of the banks will be ready to give loans..moreover what about the placements??? will people from this course will be considered on par with the PGDM people...things will become really confusing without this AICTE approval i guess..
hey iim.dude....he actually said that....me also hoping AICTE formalities are over by 28th and we make it through....
Hi dude
Did Sudeep sir actually say "almost green signal from AICTE" for the remaining 60 seats???
I am also a borderline case as per my conversation with him a week ago. Would be glad if you can confirm this.

To add to this the
HCM course will have no trouble getting placements because its a very niche course which already has grounding because of kasturba medical college apart from the fact that some tapmi alumni exist in that category and its one of world highest grossing profitable segments.
IB course also seems like a winner because IB is a very less practiced specialisation in India but its sure to grow by leaps and bounds, especially given the fact that in south India there is no major MBA school that gives IB specialisation as an option. The closest is in Delhi (infact so is the other well known one). Also very good alumni of tapmi is IB and its a very growth targetted market.
BFS as already discussed is a sure shot winner with or without approval from anything. Anyone who doubts it should see the course structure, I just hope professors are roped in and if that is done and industry contacts are made then it can probably get a lot of the big finance names. (So, the people who absolutely love finance and have converted PGDM, do give this a thought if you have taken this as an option-As a personal opinion, I think if recruiters see the course structure and corporate relations are maintained well by the incoming students then I personally think the BFS course will go ahead of the PGDM course in terms of finance recruitments-but remember this is a pure speculation from an outsider like me) and incase you want to make your profile one thats at par with anyone in the field just add cfa/frm which should be a relative cakewalk given the bfs course structure.
But there is still no course structure out for TAPMI IB which is very strange.
All the best to everyone.

Agreed on most of the things but Placement is the part where i getting worried and also it can create problem of getting loan from bank(not sure about this).
But if this loan problem happen to me then it will be hard for me to join TAPMI ,if i got selected.

@ Jungle_7 and anjali@
Regarding getting loan from a bank for a course which is not AICTE approved, I do not have any specific answer. But few guesses:
(1) One of the biggest b school (in terms of intake) ICFAI MBA program is not approved by AICTE. (Correct me if I am wrong). But I guess still many of their students should be getting educational loan. How? Which banks? If u have any friends in ICFAI or use pagalguy to contact them and ask how they got educational loan without AICTE approval.
(2) If the courses start under Manipal University and without AICTE approval, then you can quote this issue to college authorities. There is high probability that college will make tie ups with banks that have big presence in Manipal/Udupi (e.g. syndicate bank) and some other bank, so that these courses can be financed through educational loan. If there is a course, for which no bank is willing to give educational loan, then success of that course will be highly doubtful as most of students finance their higher education through educational loans.
The way most banks process your loan is -
Step1: You go to them with your selection letter
Step2: The bank looks up a list of institutions that it has. Finds out which category your institute fits into. Accordingly decides on Collateral, Rate of Intt., etc.
Step3: You fill out the paperwork
Step4: Loan is sanctioned. Voila!
In Step2, the list will say "T.A. Pai Management Institute" under a grade criteria (most banks recognize TAPMI as Grade-A). Nothing about which course, AICTE accreditation, etc. Also your selection letter will be from TAPMI. So I personally feel that this ground is pretty well covered.
As for the AICTE accreditation affecting placements, etc... Put yourself in the shoes of a recruiter. What is it that you are looking for? You want a student from a good B-school who would work in your organization and add value through application of his knowledge and skills. You also want a certain amount of go-getter attitude. Someone who has studied under the same standards and faculty as the TAPMI PGDM programme would be treated the same as them. Some organizations may prefer one course over another while some others may decide on cut-off criterion like CAT percentile or CGPA in a particular subject, etc. but then that is the kind of variability you should learn to take in your stride even when you are working.
To reiterate, try to look at the course as a process of educating yourself rather than as means to an end. You can either be a Cab driver who just looks at reaching the destination or the Wanderer who enjoys every mile of the trip. The call, as always, is yours.
What is the general menu of the mess?
