A person covers a certain distance with a speed of 24 km/hr. in 8 minutes. If he wants to cover the same distance in 6 minutes,what should be his speed??

24*8/6 => 32 minutes...

This might seem like a got up match but trust me it's not so , I divided the effect by 6 since both the time is given in minutes...

Distance = 24*8/60

Time required = 6/60

Hence we have a denominator in both the cases . Now the required time is -

( 24*8/60 ) / ( 6/60 ) { Check both has denominator 60 , I just ignored this part , since they will be cancelled out in the next step}

=> ( 24*8/60 ) * ( 60 /6 ) = 32 Minutes....

If m and n are natural numbers such that 2^m- 2^n = 960, whatis the value of m ?(a) 10 (b) 12(c) 16 (d) Cannot be determined

If the powers of 2 are known to you it will hardly take 10 seconds -

Check for 2^m as any value have result more than 960

2^ = 1024

Now from it deduct 960 to see if the result is of any use to U ( 1024 - 960 = 64 )

Possible 64 = 2^6

Hence m = 10 and n = 6

if x^2+y^2+z^2=xy+yz+zx.find the value of (4x+2y-3z)/2x?

A neat CAT shortcut I learnt years ago

If x^2+y^2+z^2=xy+yz+zx Then x=y=z

Take x = y = z as 1

(4x+2y-3z)/2x = > ( 4 + 2 - 3 ) / 2 = 3/2

There are two wheels having 16 cogs and 27 cogs.For the latter one,the wheel takes 80 turns in three fourth of a minute.How much turns will the wheel having 16 cogs will take in 1 second?

If,

(a + 2) sin x + (2a - 1) cos x = 2a + 1

then tan x = ?

If
[ 1 + sin (2x) ] / [1 - sin (2x) ] = cot ^ 2 ( a + x )

then a = ?

Hello. Hope the preparation for CGL 13 re-exam and cgl 14 is going good for all of you.
I have been preparing for CGL for the past 2yrs along with a hectic software job and had been following the older threads of CGL 11 and 12 on PG closely in the past. I am back here for some serious preparation with a new group and with some new found aspirations.
I hope that my inputs will add some value as well. All the Best!

I am currently working with an IT company and aiming for a Group B post through CGL 2013 in Delhi.
Being here in an IT environ, with hardly any scope for studies, I'm looking forward to a serious group by the means of which we can work hard in a strategic way towards CGL 13/14.
In case any one is interested here in the same I can share my strategy in detail-
With hardly much time left for CGL Tier-1 exam, we need to follow a planned out schedule for covering all the topics (keeping in mind our strengths and weaknesses in each subject) & then going for mock tests to evaluate our prep. Since we sometimes tend to procrastinate and deviate from the schedules we prepare, I was thinking if we could form a group and set targets within the group to be followed each day or each week (whatever be comfortable for everyone). In this way we will be approaching preparation in a proper way and since everyone in the group will be striving to meet the targets, it will keep up the spirit to adhere to the schedule keeping away procrastination. Also we can solve the same mock tests (paramount or any other source) on weekends and then compare scores and discuss doubts here.
Sorry for the long post .. pls reply on this or PM me incase you would be interested for the same!
