The goverment of India has lauched a program Khelo India to mobilise the youth towards sports . The aim is make youth know about advantages of playing sports and what are the career opportunities they can make in this if given proper guidance from lower age.
The program strives for sports for all and sports for excellence. It aims at mainstreaming sports for individual ,community and economic development. It aims to change the entire system of sports including its infrastructure,talent identification ,talent nuturing ,competition structure etc. The program also aims to identify taent from far flung deprived areas and bringing them forward for the national development.
Under this program around 1000 young atheletes each year and give them scholarship of rs 5 lacs per year for 8 years. 20 university will be built across the country for promotion of sports that will help people to take a dual pathway of doing thier education along with getting excellent in sports.Nationa sports talent search portal will also built where we can directly do regestration talent identification. The program would also cover 200 million children between age group of 10-18 years it will not only measure thier physical fitness but also support thier fitness related activities.
India being a country of 1.3 billion people still is not able to perform at olympics there are some lacunas within the system that should be removed .THis khelo india can be small move in that direction .Talented people if given a platform can definitely help India to win more medals at olympic and also make sports a part of life of youth along with education.
Public healthcare in India .
Health is one of the most important subject for any country .Healthy people can only contribute for the growth of the country . But sadly the picture in case of india is not good with rising cases of both communicable and non communicable diseases it becomes important for state to provide good public health facilities .
In case of India the health budget is around 1% of gdp that is really very low when compared to developed nations . Goverment has opened many district levels hospitals ,primary health centres at village level. Goverment as also launched Jan aaushadi centres to provide medicines at low cost to the people .
But still there are lot of issues in the present system such as no of doctors are very less in goverment hospitals . Secondly the quality of doctors is poor many cases of wrong treatment have been reported in goverment hospitals. Thirdly the equipments are not availble to do major surgeries and detect major health problems. The subordinate staff working with doctors is of very bad quality. Many a times it has also been seen that doctors are not ready to work at village level due to low salaries and improper facilities available in village.
Already 70 years has passed after independence and there need to be proper overhauling in this sector some of the steps are like first the goverment must increase the health budget. secondly there needs to be a proper increase in salaries of goverment doctors so that the continue in goverment sector. Thirdly private -public partnership needs to be done to revive health sector. Fourthly a proper training needs to be given to doctors timely so they can adept themselves to new diseases and situations like gorakhpur japanese elephantitis tradedy in which more than 50 children died doesnt happen again.
