According to the recent G.O. sanctioned cadre strength of CBEC is 20,000.
Do any one know the number of persons who have been working already in CBEC?
If we have that data, the difference will be filled either in 2016 or 2017.

ESSAY - GENERAL ANTI AVOIDANCE RULE(GAAR)
GAAR are a set of rules framed in order to limit tax avoidance. This contentious law is going to be implemented from april 1, 2017 by incumbent government. As corporates and companies tries to avoid tax in the name of tax planning or by any other wrong means , the legitimacy of such practices need to be questioned. At the same time , the other side criticized the law and even termed it as 'Tax Terrorism'.
As per this law , it gives arbitrary power to tax officials. Even they can penalise deals under bilateral treaty thus created fear among foreign investors. Also , the burden of proof would placed on accused. Hence , the law clearly seems a draconian one and could bring 'inspector raj' back to home.
The adverse impact of this law will be on economy as well as bilateral relations of our country. The foreign companies are even more vulnerable with this law as seen in vodafone tax pricing issue. This consequently make them reluctant to do business in india . The much tarnished image of india in terms of 'ease of doing business' wouid even get more worsened. Also overriding of DTAA or bilateral treaties could built a negative image of india on international business arena.
Hence it is imperative that GAAR will not be beneficial for the health of our economy. Rather , the eisting laws should be redesigned and properly implemented so that honest tax payers don't get harrassed and business friendly image of india remain maintained.

OLYMPIC PERFORMANCE OF INDIA AND WAY TO IMPROVE
The first celebration of Modern Olympic Games took place in Athens in 1896 by involving 14 nations with a total of 241 athletes.With the involvement of more than 11000 athletes from over 207 nations,the last summer Olympic concluded on 21st August 2016 at Rio,Brazil.The United States topped the medal table by taking 121 medals while India took only 2 medals by securing 67th position in the medal tally.
Indian Olympic Association sent 117 athletes,out of which,Badminton player P.V.Sindhu bagged a silver medal & Sakshi Malik won a Bronze in 58 Kg category of wrestling.India has 50% of its population below the age of 25 .Young India has a huge potential but dearth of proper facilities,malnutrition in rural areas,inappropriate budget distribution to states,lack encouragement,dominance of cricket,lesser number of playgrounds due to urbanisation & stereotypical parents who want their child to become an engineer/doctor rather than an athlete are some of the reasons of poor performance of India in Olympics.However,Government is fighting tooth and nail to improvise its position.Reconstitution of TOP(Target Olympic Podium) headed by Abhinav Bindra(the only gold medallist in Olympic till now),which identifies potential medal prospects for 2020/2024 Olympics is one the steps taken by government.Sports facilities with appropriate budget allocation and their follow up is required.More awareness to sports will change the mindset of people towards sports.
Great achievements starts with a decision to begin.Promotion of sports at all level will help India ameliorate its appearance in Olympic.Smart intervention generates faster outcomes.Indian glory will definitely reach its zenith.But it is important that we begin.
