Demonitization:
"Money can make many things - Proverb. But money can't make any thing due to demonitization."
The term 'Demonitization' literally means removal of value of money. On November 8, 2016 our honourable prime minister called for a press meet and announced the most surprising news that Rs 500 and Rs. 1000 will no longer be legal tender ever since 12:00 AM November 9,2016.
Though some countries tried this policy before, it didn't bring any positive economic growth. But many eminent economists including Mr. Amartya Sen who is Nobel Prize winner for welfare economics said that this policy will not bring economic growth. All the opposition parties claimed that it is foolish move taken by the government which will bring stress to common people.
The ground reality is also supporting the arguments of negative impacts of demonitization. Most of the unorganised sectors couldn't pay wages to their labours due to this policy. Many common people lost their jobs. All of the people's daily job turned out to be standing in the Atm queue and awaiting for banks to open to deposit their old notes. The number of registration of real estates also went below average.Agriculture was totally crushed and india recorded higher number of farmer's suicide due to no proper money circulation.
We could see some good impacts also due to demonitisation. That is reduction in the number of crimes the reason behind which is unaccounted money. Most of the people started using digital transactions via public and private sector's financial instruments. Due to more digital transactions, Indian goverment received large increase in direct and indirect taxes which will enable government to spend on welfare shemes.
Some economists say that it may bring considerable growth in long term. Let time to answer this statement.
