Three highly essential books for beating the C.G.L. Exam.:-
1. Quantitative Aptitude
2. Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning
3. Objective English
All 3 books are authored by R. S. Aggarwal.
As for GK, you can go for GK Today published by Competition Success Review group. It's basically a concise overview of the major events that happened in the previous month.
That, accompanied with 3 months of dedicated study, would be more than sufficient to crack the CGLE.

I hope you have qualified for CGLE 2011 Tier 2. In Tier 2 Just concentrate on basic English grammar and scoring 160+ in English should not be a problem. Going by the previous trends, getting direct and indirect narration and active and passive voice itself right will get u about 55 marks. As for maths go through books mentioned in the previous posts, but remember 'speed with accuracy' is the key.
@ Akash,Thanks for your instant reply:-P...Though I am not MBA aspirant but have cat material with me and will consult with it whenever it is required.
@Micky :-P.....I have two of them but as you say will rush away to grab my copy of the third one....Thanks for the reply
@Maha,I didn't appear for CGL11 because I didn't give much importance to this exam as now....My target will be to get 175+ in eng.as well as in maths as the list of Top 500 students in CGL10 shows that they have almost all got aroung 175 figure in Tier 2.....Thanks buddy!!
Q1.In CGL this year,I classified the GK section as follows:
3 Q.from Eco,4 from His.,4 from Geo.,16 from General Science,5 from indian polity,6 from current affairs,12 from others(2 from authors and books, and 10 from mixed varaities). I can see GS is the possible rank-lifter and confused between should i understand every concept life iodoform properties and basic science concepts or just mug up all the data over there????
ANY MORE SUGGESIONS REGARDING GK AS THE BASKET OF GK IS VERY BIG AND WANT TO RETAIN JUST USEFUL MATERIAL IN IT.............
Need a satisfactory answer for this
Just subscribe for GK Today or better, Competition Success Review which is a monthly magazine. It will cater to almost all your needs, be it Current Affairs, Indian Constitution, Science, etc. Bring a copy home and start reading it from today itself. Finish it within a month and while reading it make one line notes in a register. That particular register will be all you would need as a revision text at the time of the exam ๐

One good thing about CGLE as of now is that there are no sectional cut-offs. Even if u r below par in one of the sections of Tier 1, there is no need to get unduly worried. With the high targets u have set for yourself, if u manage about 140-150 in tier 1, 175 each in Science and Maths and about 65-70 in interview, nothing can stop you from being in top 50; I myself managed SLA/60 in ITI in the first try. Time is on ur side. Prepare well and have a go at it.
can anyone give me ssc northern region centre number,i m from delhi
number available on their site is never picked up by them
sorry bro, there are no alternative numbers as far as i know.....however keep trying, sometimes they are free enough to pick the phones.....
since you live in delhi, if possible, you can also visit the ssc northern office, it is besides the jawaharlal nehru stadium metro station...
cbec tax asst 80% cands will be posted pune only by an official in cbec......

Well!I posted my queries here especially in this thread in the anticipation of being answered out from those who are already selected and who can help like akash, micky, and maha and many others:-P:-P:-P You don't worry I know there are still those who either don't help or even don't want others to help others

Ok if that is the case then whats the use of running another thread on SSC CGL 2011(and 2012, 1013,...) exam. The motive of separate threads is itself to discuss queries which are related to that thread only. Yes, if some newbie bumps in a wrong thread with a query which is exactly not related to that thread then it is a sole duty of a "puy" to humbly resolve the query and redirect the concerned query to the correct thread for more information. But if u r again n again posting ur queries here only without even searching for the appropriate thread and when someone asks u for posting ur query on d respective thread then that means he is doing his part of work here which needs to be done. And if u r feeling that puys here are replying to ur queries properly irrespective of the fact that it is not an appropriate thread then trust me u will love it when u'll find that a lot of 'puys' are there on the respective thread of SSC CGL 2011 to guide u with their hearts out :). We guys(SSC CGL 2010 selected ones) are also there and guiding the aspirants as much as psbl.
So its better u post ur particular queries in the right thread, else my friend you urself r inviting a ban from mods.

Anyways here is link for the thread of SSC CGL 2011:

P.S.: Sorry for being a bit rude but the sarcasm u used in ur last post provoked me.

now thats a fitting reply!!! our intentions are not to deny help to newbies but to help them get help from the right place...
friends, i think it's okay if a new guy pops up in this thread asking for our suggestions. remember the days when we were preparing last year. we were desperate to see ourselves successful. and so are these guys today. he asked us because we are more frequent on this thread than we are on cgl2011 thread. it does not create any problems, if one or two pages are occupied by such posts. being proactively helpful is a good things.
at the same time i opine to the newbies that this is not a very tough exam to clear. our user department is taking much more time than we had expected in allocating regions to us. and we are at loss both mentally and economically. that may be one of the reason for you getting a fitting reply. but i can assure you that cgl2011 thread is abuzz with many a suggestions. i have myself posted few strategies to adopt on page 31,209,210 etc. i think that much is more than sufficient. but if you still have queries, drop them in my inbox. i would try to resolve them as best as i can.
I agree with you masoom but dont you think the reply wasn't like a newbie. He just insulted us how did he know that we are not interested to help them.By the way wish they will clear the exam this time and understands our agony also.
@san,mega(especially),masoom and whoever felt hurt of my those socalled annoying lines,Please let me say,I never intended to do so....OMG:w00t::w00t::w00t: were the words when i rechecked my account and found a lot of critical remarks from you guys....Please let me justify my stand on the grounds of exact intentions of my remarks.I just wanted to say 'if you want to reply my queries, you please reply otherwise just leave theem and let the others reply'.I am happily helping and getting help from those on SSC2011 thread but wanted some guidance from you 'experienced' guys....Yar is thread par 2-3 din me ek post ati the So I thought why not ask you something which might be helpful during my prepration and can guide to others as well....Yes!I should not have asked irrelevant ifo.in this thread, whatever my intentions would be So I sincerely apologise to u all for poking my nose in wrong thread even though my intentions were not to hurt anyone.
Okay just forget about what happened in past I hope you will keep in mind in future that word selection is an important matter too.By the the replies to your queries...........
1) The best strategy to crack this exam to study atleast 7/8 hours a day making routine. For Gk study in depth the full syllabus. For math try to practice as much as possible and for reasoning practice but not go for tough ones as questions don't be so much tough. For english you can prepare according to Bank PO standard.
Try to solve atleast one paper in every three days when you have maintained a base and increase as the day progresses. It will help you to locate your weaknesses.
2)Must purchase books as per my view for gk luccent for reasoning rs agarwall for math m.tyre or rs agarwall for english any grammer book to strengthen the base of basic grammer then vocabulary.Kiran's practice sets.
3)You can try Aptitude Questions and Answers - IndiaBIX and Current GK for your assesment.
Hope these things will help you in your preparation and see you in the list of next years selected candidates.
