hi amartya,

for our batch(sjmsom07-09) the last jmet rank called for GD/PI was 349(general category)

GD/PI is held only at IIT Bombay...

The degree offered is M.Mgmt. from IIT Bombay wherein specialisation is not mentioned. However one can choose from a host of electives in the second year as per your interest.

Cheers,

Ganesh.

Hi All

A little query with regards to SJSOM
SJSOM qoutes

Students with a first class Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent) or first class Master's degree in Science are eligible for admission to the M.Mgt. Programme. Students should have secured min. 60% aggregate marks / min. CGPI of 6.5 out of 10 at the qualifying examination. Work experience is desirable but not mandatory.
Candidates appearing for the final degree examination can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, provided they complete all requirements for the qualifying degree at the time of joining the course.
1. I have a first class degree in engg as we were conferred the same on the final years marks.
2. My aggregrate marks is 58 % :wow:
Seniors, puys plz chip in

Last year, though we had share of doubts but such cases were eligible. For this year, it needs to be checked afresh. Will get back ASAP.

The way I see it "60% aggregate marks at the qualifying examination" should mean 60% in the final year because that is the qualifying examination. If your university does not take the previous years marks into consideration for awarding your degree, the marks obtained only in final year should be mentioned. My university follows the same criteria - wherein only the final year marks are considered for awarding the degree. So wherever the marks in degree examinations are asked I only mention the final year marks and not the aggregate of all the years. It makes no sense to me at least to consider all four years marks, when the university itself is not considering them...

@nikks: yeah, true. But the thing is that the logic for keeping 1st class degree as the eligibility criterion is to assess the performance of a candidate in his engg. Now an X (x=1,2,...) class degree being awarded only on the basis of final year doesn't reflect this. Thats why when the candidate comes here, we calculate his/her average marks over the 4 years (if the degree is awarded based only on the fianl yr. marks). There was a lot of debate for such cases where the average falls below 60% but the degree is still 1st class. AFAIK, such cases were allowed last year but shouldn't have been in principle considering the logic of keeping this 1st class degree criterion.

The thing is we have a different admissions co-ordinator each year and jitna mujhe pata hai, it hasn't been chosen as yet. This process happens generally in Oct-Nov. But I or somebody form SOM09 will try to get answer for this year either from HOD or last years' admission co-ordinator.

You may have to wait a bit longer as our end-terms are starting this weekend and the week is filled with submissions and assignments.

Thanks
SHEKHAR

Hi Nachiket ,

I am an aspirant for doing my MBA from IITs. I am filling up the JMET form . I have a few queries :

1. IS it mandatory to send DD of NATIONALISED bank ? I mean will there be a problem if I send DD of other banks ?

2. I know that we need to apply separately to the targetted institutes . Please let us know the application process for SJMSOM.

Regards,
Thanks a ton for opening thus thread :-)

Hi , As for the Admissions to SJMSOM ,it will only start after the JMET results are out and you will have enough time to fill in the apllication form after the results.Right now just focus on giving JMET and getting a good rank. As for the DD query, as far as I know you can send a DD from any bank it should not be an issue , but I will confirm the same and let you know. All the best for your JMET preparations and if you have any more queries you can put them out here.

yes, JMET is a common exam.. and after results are out (in Jan 200 you need to send applications to all colleges (SJMSOM, VGSOM, DOMs) separately..

One more suggestion is you can convert the print file to Adobe PDF file.
