@AintSaint

I'm happy for you as well! Pardon my next comment, I'm not a sexist, but it is especially tough for women on the path to higher education in India. I know because I have a sister who went through exactly what you mentioned before she realised that her field of interest was something else. And now she's pursuing her dream and she's happy. Chintu and Pintu can go to hell for all she cares. Pardon the crass language.

Also, it's never too late to realise which direction you need to head in. In your case, I'd say its happened at the most opportune time. A Post-Graduation is generally the farthest a person gets to in his/her quest for knowledge and this is where the journey and all the knowledge culminates and gets focused to a single point which illuminates the way forward.

You'll find in your MBA (wherever you do it from) that the knowledge imparted is not something new to you. In fact, it is inherent in our daily lives, in our mundane activities. It is only being imparted to you again to reinforce your belief in it and to help you see whats always been in front of you.

I wish you all the best for all your future endeavors. I sincerely wish more and more women of India were like you within whom the thirst for knowledge and enlightenment burns bright.
@AintSaint

To tell you the truth, yes it does. Although the example you mentioned is a bit extreme to say the least.

I don't know about other colleges but truth be told, at SIBM-B not everybody passes out with flying colors (as is with any institution across the globe) and by the time the last few are left, people do have to settle for roles which in an utopian world belonged to someone in a different specialization.

Examples like these are few and far between but they do happen. Although i can guarantee you that if you were an average or above average student with even a little bit of street-smarts and confidence, you'll get your profile at SIBM-B

Well said @AintSaint , and life becomes extremely difficult when the neighbour's kid chintu got AIR 63 in JEE, and all I want to do is be a globe trekker and discover myself. :p

@NoMoreMrNiceGuy

Families in India simply cannot wrap their heads around Alternate Career Choices. It's blasphemy for them, scandalous that a thought like that came into their child's head. And that's why in a country a billion strong, we cannot win more than an occasional silver/gold at the Olympics. The list goes on.

Seniors Awesome Work you are doing !!!! Answering questions ( some silly ) with so much information... Hats off to you !!! I don't want any damn ranking or placement packages if I am selected in SIBM-B the next day will be my resignation :)

@kshitijsharma Can hardly disagree with that. The bitter truth is that in our country, alternative career choices are "not options worth considering". Millions like me are forced to swallow this bitter pill every day, at every step. That is our tragedy.
P.S.-Right now I am preparing for a job interview which might land me a job that I can't imagine taking up.

True..Fee transfer among Symbi institutes is possible and only 1k is deducted. However there are certain dates before you need to do that.. Will post them as soon as the merit list comes..
One of the students co-ordinator of SCIT mentioned in a post that the pre-induction fee would not get transferd and it will be forfeited. Please guide us on this.

Thanks in advance :)

Could not resist from adding that SIBM-B team has been doing excellent job here on PG and elsewhere.
I never expected someone to answer all the queries so deligently and with such undiminished fervor.
Take a Bow
@kshitijsharma

Thanks :)

I take pride in being an Indian but like you've rightly pointed out, we still have a long way to go before we get rid of the misogyny that has engulfed our society. Luckily, I belong to a highly progressive family, with both my parents being staunch feminists. But yes, I've seen numerous cases of my female friends and acquaintances abandoning their career/refraining from studying further after Bachelors because of the silliest reasons.

Life is all about discovering yourself as an individual, nurturing your intellect and soul, finding the path that coincides with the vision of your highest self.
The sheer existence of variables like 'Premature Marriage', 'Pleasing a distant relative', 'Listening to the incessant rants of your neighbourhood Aunty' in the equation of your life is an insult in itself.

And to return your compliment, I sincerely wish that more (Indian) men were like you, who refrain from indulging in sexism and treat women as equals. (If I had a penny for every Chauvinist Pig that I've come across!)

P.S WTG with your sister following her goals. More power to her!

Lol! I'm sure Chintu would envy you if you did do that.

I want to trek across Europe. One day!

What is the last date for fee submission at SIBM-B?
@nikhilbrad @kssrisha1989 From the website i can see that SIBM-B has only 150 seats for the 2013-15.. Would this surely be the case or there are chances that the number of seats would be increased? Also, how is it for the current 2012-14 batch?
