2) ka toh 1 hai..1st mei koi bhi option nahi lag raha
Haan, I got the same. Lagta hai solution galat hai fir, because unhone last coin loses diya hai, and they are putting the guy in the losing position toh maybe the solution assumes last coin wins.

The stupid things is this set has 5 questions, pehle 3 main loses wala logic, last 2 main magically wins wala logic. :splat:
@Omkarp Last man loses nahi ho sakta.. Options have been made as per last man wins.
Suppose no of coins are x. Leave out the last coin for the opponent (had the minimum no of coins to be picked been more than 1, we could have left more accordingly). So we have to work with x-1 coins, ensuring that the x-1'th coin is picked by Radhika and 1 is left for Raju. So in the first turn, Radhika should pick up (x-1) mod 8 coins. Since she picks up 5 as per the question, x-1 = 8a+5 => x-6 = 8a. None of the options satisfy this...

Question: Select the odd man out

1. Besides incurring high costs from a new building and technology investments, it has diversified only minimally out of equities, where revenue growth has lately been slower than in the trading of financial derivatives.
2. Europe's exchanges have already consolidated to some degree.
3. The London Stock Exchange, though the most liquid stock exchange outside America, may need a partner if it is to grow.
4. And when exchanges merge, back-office costs fall and liquidity gets a boost.

Select the odd man out

1. In the age of the global economy, the solution to the servant problem is simple: rather than importing the nanny, offshore the children.
2. All employers face restrictive immigration policies which raise labour costs.
3. Some may respond by trying to fiddle the immigration system, but most deal with the matter by exporting jobs.
4. Parents are not the only people who have difficulty getting visas for nannies.

OA: 1 for both questions

As per the source, the evergreen Economist website, all four sentences are part of the same effin' paragraph, one after the other. x( Parajumble ka question odd man out bana diya..

Raju and Radhika are playing a game which involves picking up coins kept on a table. Each person in his/her turn has to pick a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 7 coins, until all the coins are picked up by the players. Assume that both players are playing intelligently with the intention of winning the game.
The person who picks up the last coin loses. Q1. Which of the following can be the number of coins on the table before Radhika's turn, if she picks up 5 coins which ensure her win?
1. 37
2. 42
3. 47
4. 55
Q2. If there are 42 coins on the table and it is Raju's turn to play, then how many coins should he pick up to ensure his win?
1. 5
2. 4
3. 2
4. 1Iska kuch funda clear karna hai. Give this a try please.
Pehle mein koi options match nahi ho raha
8k + 6 form hone chaiye answer.

2. 1 hoga ...

42 = 8k + 2... TO win Raju has to ensure ki last mein 1 coin bache..
Raju ne 1 uthaya.. fir Radhika picks x .. Raju picks 8-x (8 = controlling sum).. this goes for 5 rounds.. 6th round mein 1 coin is left . Radhika picks and loses
