hi...what are the physical standards for electrical discipline....basically i m from PH category....(they mentioned in advt that we should be free from physical defect) what does it mean?..is there any possibility of rejection in medical test....

For MT (Tech)
Should be of sound physique, free from any physical defect. Medical standards stipulate minimum requirements of Weight 45 kg; Height 155 cm; Myopia and Hypermetropia, if any, not to exceed ą 4.00 in each eye and no squint or color blindness, partial or full. Suitable relaxation in height and weight will be given to female candidates.
Don't know how strictly they follow it, but this was written in the advertisement.

@niharika.anupam Hey i too am a myopic with a power of 5.5 and 6.5 in my eyes.I too have the same query and the medical standards given in ad is giving me jitters cos getting rejected on medical grounds would be the last thing i wud like to happen to anybody.I consulted eye specialist and he suggested me a surgery but its costing a whooping 1.2 lac and am leaving the whole thing in god's hands and i havent heard much positive things about lasik operation.
I am selected for mt-admin position and i dont have amy color blindess.I have checked with the local sail officials in chandigarh.they all said they do focus on color blindess.
Rest the god knows and sail knows......

Joining letters are sent simulteneously to you adresses as of now the'll bve reaching you within a few days may be two or three.As per my last information you have equal chance of getting posted at any plants of SAIL except IISCO burnpur as all the people joining at IISCO will be posted there.And all the remaining BOKARO inductees will be posted to all othe plants.This will be mentioned in your joining letter
puys and other sail seniors plz suggest and guide otherwise i will have to work as an sbi clerk....
@ashrivastava88 i also have keratoconus which is basically the steep conical shape cornea so i have been suggested two surgeries c3r+lasik and the cost is 1.5 lakh and the heaing period is around 15-20 days and my sbi clerical training starts on 10 feb and will go on till 25 feb so jus keppng fingers crossed
I can easily manage but will sail take me thats the more imp question my bro but i will be dejected if i get fail in medical
Dnt knw what tests they conduct for eye examination so cant conceal anything from medical experts....
i got examined in chd lasik can be done in 50k but other procedure is more expensive

@jivan121 see, I cant say which is best, but there are two very good ones in delhi, which are known exclusively for lasik..

@texas921 why are u so obsessed with sbi clerk?? there is no comparison b/w sbi clerk and MT in sail.
just go and get ur lasik done, u wud be fine after that. otherwise, they can reject u on medical grounds. u already have sail in ur hand, so either resign from ur job, or lake a long leave.

@texas921 as per the cost is concerned, m sure u can manage it from somewhere as u can easily pay it off in 6 months.
hello seniors , sorry for disturbing you guys. i m doing my final year mechanical engineering going to take sail technical exam this year. as far as i m concerned, i really want to get placed in sail. i don't want to take exam without preparation. if you guys tell me what i need to study for the exam, it ll very helpful. i heard from my seniors that it contains aptitude paper. general awareness paper along with technical paper, is that so? if yes please tell me the weightage given to that papers.. thank you all of you guys in advance..
@ ALL no psu's will consider your M.tech degree during promotions . taking extension in ur joining is a bad choice because after joining u will find that ur colleagues r now ur seniors . so if u r interested in only SAIL ur IIT tag is useless.
so think twice before seeking extnsn just fr Mtech

what does it mean by "free from physical defect"..............they are considering only orthopedic as ph category and mentioned that free from physical defect...........what does it mean ?
