Tech should be taken seriously.
Core areas are: Data security; basic programming (they wont ask you hardcore JAVA programming on matrix inverses. Don't worry but you must know basic structure of computer programming.); COA (read excellent book by William Stallings. I have ebook. Sorry - unable to upload. Download on http://www.ece.ucdavis.edu/~vojin/CLASSES/EEC70/W2004/presentations/ ); DBMS; Computer i/o basics; Micro-processor / Micro-controller; OS; AI; Multimedia.
Non tech -
GK - read newspaper to know which day is what. Example - 15/september = Engineering Day. 12/January = Youth Day. etc...
Read CSR to know what organizations are doing these days.
Browse for online data. To know who got which award. Example - Life of PI was oscar nominated.
Reasoning - download book by RS Aggarwal. Worth reading at least thrice.
English - Read TIME and other magazine to sharpen your language skills.

Cut off in technical > 73.356% while non technical = 57.643% as per experience with few candidates. My own experience: MTA - Materials. Attempted = 94% (how many Correct! - GOD knows) in materials domain and = 62% attempted from non technical. Still selected for interview. So, you can generalize your formula.

@is4 but keep in mind if fail to clear d cutoff of any section u might nt get selected even if u hv atmpted 175 out off 200.. so a blnce aproach nd precsn is needed...
