i am not sure that they will come up with this vacancy again or not, as only 125 ppl joined due to its contract nature and RBI didnt had any cclear policy on how to utilize EI(executive Intern).

Hi,

I in a bit of dilemma : I need to make a decision on whether to prepare for CAT or to prepare for RBI Grade B exam.

I am from engg background with 3 yrs of work experience. I have been preparing for CAT for the past few months. But now I have realised that I should really concentrate on either CAT or RBI preparation only since both these exams are tough and require extensive preparation and it is impossible for me to prepare for both simultaneously (since I don't have any economics or finance background).

Please help me in making a decision. Bcoz this problem has been lingering in my mind for so long and is hindering my preparations..

if you are realy serious about making a career, then go for cat. As you are from engg background u can do wel in cat mst probably.

Hi Vineeth87,

My 2 cents... The first phase of RBI Gr B, this year would be approximately in Oct-Nov 2012. The 1st phase contains questions that are similar to the CAT pattern, but much easier ( The GK part though could be a spoke in the wheel).

My advice would be to prepare with a focus on CAT and since you have time prepare GK on a sound footing as well, this would cover your prep for CAT, Gr B, as well as a few other MBA exams ( The GK prep would then be an asset).

The separate prep you are referring to would be during phase 2, but that would be only after you get through phase 1, and the time provided between the results of phase 1 and the phase 2 exams would be more than sufficient.

Try not to think of the 2 exams as mutually exclusive but as mutually inclusive... ATB

When are the results coming??? Waiting anxiously...any idea///anyone??

Not before the last week of June dude..

Thank you Neethu and Inspiracion. You guys helped me put my mind at ease.

Hi all,
I just wanted to ask , where from should I prepare for Mains in case I qualify prelims? Many of my friends who appeared for this year's exam are saying to join some IAS Coaching center. Is that the only option?I mean only the economic section is common isnt? For that Joining a total IAS curriculum...Good enough? I am located in Kolkata, so should I go for some distance course materials?( although I don't know which insti to go for, how good will they be). Kindly help. Also if someone is here from Kolkata preparing for the same, maybe we can joint study.Want to prepare for it seriously
TIA.:)

Hi Susmita,

You DO NOT need to join an IAS coaching centre to prepare for the Mains...A few posts back on the same thread will give you a fair idea of the books you can use for self study...That is the BEST option ATB
