Received a postal email yesterday, purportedly from RBI, at my office address. Began as a quick congratulatory mail, and had a Mains sample paper attached. I'll skip the blah and get down to brass tacks.
Quote - "If you are a working professional, and do not have time to read through hard copy books. We have prepared a material especially for the RBI Mains exams for each of the section, cost Rs. 3300/subject. Ie total to 9,900/-. Please contact the email id '[email protected]'. Orders accepted till May 6th only. "
Red flags that got my mind ticking Rediffmail link. RBI would use a reserve bank domain name to send any mail. No official seal of RBI No address, phone numbr or other details, except the quoted email id. Why would RBI, whose exam form cost Rs. 100 sell study materials for Rs. 9900. This results in direct advantage to those with money to shell out. :cheerio:To confirm this called the RBI services board, and they confirmed that they did not send any such mail.
Looks like someone's out to make a quick buck. Please beware and disregard and such mail
N.B. - Dispatch of phase 2 admit cards to begin after May 15th.
I had met newly recruited officers. They have said we have enough time to study. They have referrred following books:
1. English - Read ET, TOI daily. There are some rules for precise writing which should be followed while writing it.
2. Economics - See our syllabus given in the RBI advertisement. NCERT (CBSE Books) Class XI & XII - Pratiyogita Darpan - Indian Economy Book which will carry data.. - If possible Read TYBcom Economics (Mumbai University) - Dutt & Sundaram of Mishra & Puri - Indian Economy & Social Issues (Will cover almost all portion)
3. Finance - NCERT (CBSE Books) Class XI & XII 4. Management - Stephen Robins - Organisational Behavior - Stephen Robins - Human Resource management These two books are too much to study, just read relevent. Refer TYBcom - MHRM for human resource management. There will be lot of material available on managment. Just do as per syllabus, I think material will not matter for mgmt study.
So gud news for ppl selectd in RBI mains (other dan KKR,WR & UP regions) dey can nw give both cgl n rbi mains....bad luck for the others dey will have to choose between d 2
That postal mail which we got could be helpful as well. Because, they didn't claim that they are from RBI. They just said that they have the material and if interested we can contact them! And remember, they got the postal addresses of all selected people! So, we'll try and see if it really helps!

Dear Friend,
I think this is someone who is trying to take benefit of our curiosity. He/she might give any PDF for the preparation. Regarding the postal addresses, it is not a big task to get them. One has just to download the roll nos. of all PT qualified peoples and then check the address from a PDF uploaded on RBI website(CAWS180311.pdf) having the list of all people entitled for sitting in written test. I think this is fake and we should not spend our money on this. It is better to buy books of Datt and Sundaram for Economics and Robbins for HR.
I have been following Datt and Sundharam, but somehow i feel that the book ows its size to the fact that it follows unnecessary narration of the tables given in the book.
Any other book, which is more lucid and less "data narrative" ?????

puys a request. don't fall for such useless postal materials. it is all waste. my friend had bought postal material for cat prep from a institute based in mumbai whose advertises u all must be getting to see each month in csr. the material was low grade and completely useless. these ppl are just out there to make quick bucks by fooling aspirants.
even I have received this letter from RBIGB-Forum...n to me it luks a sham...the material is way too expensive...n d model test paper luks completely off track...RBI has nva given a qsn paper on d format dey hv used....
Guys I am a law student doing CS..I read in the RBI presntation that post graduates in economics and statistics will be given more weightage..Does that mean all the preparation will go to waste?
Hi Guys, I am new here and am preparing to take the RBI grade B exams (prelims) for 2012. Can anyone tell me when the prelims will be and any suggestions on study material?

Well, no fixed schedule for notification, but since the 2011 exam was in feb, so dont expect the next notification before oct-nov this year. So, about a year in hand.
For pre, normal, regular bank PO preparation would suffice. For mains, refer to books mentioned in last few pages, and study them/revise them thoroughly, Since the time duration favors you.
I doubt the authenticity of the person here. Names and addresses of each and every candidate is available on RBI website, So nothing verifiable here.
Dude, i m really sorry if that hurts you (in case you are genuine), but the 'Tone' of this post raises doubts. Also, this is your first ever post on PG
