the master Says
heard of this exam for the first time can any 1 elaborate on the pattern of the paper and the pay??

Well, pattern is :

Stage 1) Pre - objective type ( normal, PO level)
Stage 2) Mains - Descriptive ( Economy , management topics ), Graduation level
Stage 3) Interview

in stage 1, appx 100000 candidates apply (this yr, 117867 applied) , comes down to around 2000 for mains, and then 300-400 for interviews. Finally, around 80-100 are selected.

Pay :

as per the official notification, the salary is around 10 lakhs (CTC) , the in hand comes down to appx 40k, apart from perks like accomodation, PF, pension etc...

more queries welcome...Thanx

friends, can anyone suggest the good coaching institutes in Delhi/NCR region to prepare for RBI gr-B exams in particular and bank PO exams in general ? also, their contact nos.

Thanx in advance

Can anybody tel me what should be the limit (in words) for answering a question. Eg. if they ll ask a question about inflation, like what r the factors causing inflation, what steps should be taken to tame that?

Answer shld be written in points or essay form, which one is best?

Pls reply, if anyone has exp in this regard

i am not an expert on the matter but i feel when u compete for such a prestigious job and the level of competition is high,ur expression of thoughts matter a lot.so writing in points instead of huge paragrahs wuld be better.

well you might be true, and i don't doubt it. i have seen RBI recruiting from IIFT, FMS and SP Jain. and people actually leave their high paying jobs for RBI. but i do have a doubt about the profile RBI offer to those MBA guys and the profile which a grade B officer will get(no offence). RBI is a big big brand. but then bro you don't know about my career plans. one thing is that even though i have cleared the 1st level, i hardly know anything about this grade B thing apart from that we will get 40k in hand and we will be having the role assistant manager with fixed appraisals. a settled life very much but there won't be any challenges. you think about it, RBI hiring grads and RBI hiring MBA's from top B schools. the difference is bound to be there. also there is this uncertainty about clearing the next 2 levels. so i had to secure a seat at IIFT. i would have written the mains exam but unfortunately i have my CFA exam on 5th june and i have to devote all my time for it. no use of writing the exam without any preparation.

and you call an MBA from IIFT a waste of 2 years and 10 lakhs?? won't like to argue with you. but little modesty is appreciated from someone who is going to be in the corporate world and aspire to work with such a big name. at least you could have tried to know about my future plans and then make a comment.

Bro, good that u made urself heard without being rude. and i appreciate the decision of yours. No pint in trying without preparation.

Best of luck for ur CFA...

Thanx

Now how does that make a difference. I mean, sunday is our human right.
Apart from that, 5 days or 6 days, anything for RBI. ( and anything for 10L CTC )

lol.. bad boy seems to be a good boy for rbi 😃 \\yeah but interested to know whether saturday is a working day or not? if yes, would it be a half day like that in banks?

No RBI dsnt recruit from IIFT

ankitkg Says

what rbi offers at campus in not same as Grade-B (to be frank not as good as grade B)

ankitkg Says
RBI is a big big brand. but then bro you don't know about my career plans.

yes I dont. but 1 thing i know is all the better paid jobs at top b schools is offered not to CFAs but to those having good academic & co-curricular record (thru out) plus relevant projects (during MBA) and work-ex. CFA does not give u any edge over guys with similar GPA and projects.
u can confirm the same from those I-Bankers ands wealth managers.

ankitkg Says

yes u hardly know anything abt it. Grade-B officers go places. performers get out-of-the way promotions, uncountable remunerations and what not. It is challenging n rewarding. 40K mite luk paltry to sum but u hardly get to spend that... house, conveyance, servant etc is taken care by the apex bank.

ankitkg Says

yes .. the difference is there, n much contrasting to your assumption (as i explained earlier) . As far as uncertainty is concerned chk out the previous yr papers n syllabus- u'll get to know its pretty general (except for 40 marks management portion out of 300, rest u cant/dont have to prepare) mugging wont help here. (few people mite disagree)

so i had to secure a seat at IIFT. i would have written the mains exam but unfortunately i have my CFA exam on 5th june and i have to devote all my time for it. no use of writing the exam without any preparation.

same as above

had u been clear abt ur future plans u wudnt hav gone for MBA and CFA simultaneously (yeah majority of MBAfins do the same... and 1 of them is wasted (my personal opinion)

dude appearing for RBI without "preparation" wont kill u. u can decide later abt ur options.
