P&C; LOD-II Q-2:
How many 4 digit nos. divisible by 5 can be formed with the digits 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 and 6?
a>220
b>588
c>432
d>216
e>288.
Considering these the only digits to be used (dat is-6 can be used twice and others once),what should be d sol??

cant solve..already weak in p&c...getting; an answer of 195
(7*6*5/2)+(6*6*5/2) = 195

Hi the answer is 220.
_ _ _ 0 ->no. of ways 6*5*4*1= 120
_ _ _ 5 -> no. of ways 5*5*4*1= 100 coz 0 cannot be at the beginning.
Cheers
If x-4 + y-4 = 4, then how many integer values can the set (x,y) have?
I think it should be 6
0,0
0,4
4,0
1,3
3,1
2,2
0,0 is not satisfying the equation. However no of integer values is more than that.. 16. Any clues, how?

(a) (x-y)xy
(b) x(y-1)z
(c) xy(z-1)
(d) x(y+1)z
Consider x=20 y=10 z=5
x*y*z=1000
a) 10*20*10=2000
b)20*9*5=900
c)20*10*4=800
d)20*11*5=1100
So ans should be between b or d
b) xyz-xz
d) xyz+xz
Also xy>xz

But in arun sharma b option is yz(x-1) which should be the answer since yz is smallest among xz,xy....Hope it helps
Hello Puys..
I am facing difficulties in solving issues on Time Speed and Distance. I request you to help me out.
The J&K; Express from Delhi to Srinagar was delayed by snowfall for 16 min and made up for the delay on the section of 80KM travelling with a speed 10KM per hour higher than its normal speed. Find the original speed of the J&K; express.(According to schedule)
Options
A. 60Km/hr
B. 66.66 Km/hr
C. 50 Km/hr
D. 40 Km/Hr
E. None of the Above

LOD II - Time Speed and Distance
Problem number - 1, Page Number 278
let original speed be x km/hr
increased speed will be (x+10) km/hr
time taken to travel with original speed = 80/x hr
time taken to travel with increased speed =80/(x+10) hr
the difference in time is given to be 16 minutes=16/60 hr
therefore... 80/x-80/(x+10)=16/60
solve for x...you'll get x=50
so original speed is 50km/hr

thnks a lot for the reply....actually answer given in arun sharma is (c) n hint is dat percentage diff is the least for this option from xyz...also my logic is that (b) and (d) will always be equidistant from xyz on number line so neither of them is closer to xyz...thus (b) and (d) can be eliminated (since both are equally close to xyz on no. line)......that leaves us with (a) or (c).....

let u=speed of man in still water and v=speed of stream.
now acc to given 2 conditions,
10 = 30/(u-v) + 44/(u+v) -----------
13 = 40/(u-v) + 55/(u+v) -----------
take (u-v)=x and (u+v)=y to make calculations simpler. thus on solving we get x=5,y=11 ,i.e, (u-v)=5, (u+v)=11. Add these two equations to get u=8
hence (c) 8kmph
hope it helps....:cheerio:
