Personal/Career/CAT-job Dilemma Queries : A Repository

Dude I am an ex-Sapient employee...........worked there for 2 years..........its a great company to work for.........

Here are answers to u'r questions
1) Work culture is great, its very open.............u would never hesitate even to have a very informal discussion with a vice president

2) Well onsite depends on opportunity.some might go immediately on business visa (for meetings/ requirement gathering), for some it might take time to get an L1 (for techie work).
The visa requirements are generally
Non CS grads- 1 year shd be spent in the company for US L1 and 6 months for
UK work permit
CS grads- 6 months for both US and UK visas/permits
For Canada and other european countries, the rules are relaxed
For Business visa - there are no rules, u r eligible from day 1

3) Well if u don't perform, a company that pays u well will obviously fire u, if u have been a good performer, why worry.................be confident man...........the only way u shd go is up...............not down...think like a winner.........Sapient really takes very good care of good employees

Thanks & Regards,
- Siddharth

Would not like to compare colleges, but as per PG rankings most colleges under SNAP are better than colleges under MAT. For details of colleges, you may refer to PG rankings. So take the decision accordingly based on the colleges you wish to apply.

Hey Ramandeep,

I would suggest that you pursue your passion and forget what the world says be it MBA or CS..........do what your heart tells you and go all the way

But my personal take would be that work experience in any specialist domain adds a lot of flair and dimension to an MBA........so doing a CS and working simultaneously even in a small firm where you learn corporate culture and trying CAT/XAT may be 1/2 yrs down the line wouldnot be a bad idea at all.

Thanks & Regards,

respected sir,
i am an engineering graduate(from IT field) from the batch of 2009..

is there anything like back door process in any s/w comp???

yes, there is one in every s/w comp and that is EXIT door.

jokes apart, i dont think this is the right place to discuss it.

Absolutely not.........every company does have a refferal process where a current employee can refer you for a position to the HR.............but this too is perfectly legal and you still have to clear written exams/ interviews (whichever applicable)

And i seriously hope that such things never plague the IT industry. We are proud of our processess...........and never recommend such things.....which can only lead to a profile getting blacklisted

The closest I can think of is Back office process. Is that what you had in mind?
Hi All,
I guess I am in a midlife crisis and need some help to decide what would be the best for me.
I did lot's of Googling and though PG is mainly a portal for MBA aspirants. I hope to get my answers here.
I have already done a search on PG but couldn't find the appropriate post. So I am posing this question to you guys.
I have 8+ years of IT experience. I know that's a big number. I did my B.Tech in Electronics Engg from IT-BHU.
I passed out in 2001 and since then I am in software. Right now I am working for a startup in energy domain.
They are paying me good approx 15L. But honestly I don't see my career going in any direction. I am not sure what I would be doing say after 5 years.
I want to be in Technical side, but as my experience is growing I am finding it difficult to stay in technical side. I feel there is no career for a technical person in India. I guess I am not so brilliant to try for Google etc.
I have two options either to pursue an MBA or MS(R) from IIT-D. Not sure doing MS(R) from IIT-D will add any value. Moreover I have a family to support so I guess doing a full time course is not an option. Not sure part time courses add any values.
Primarily my questions are -
1. Does part-time MBA ( say from FMS or MDI) has the same weightage as full time?
2. What would be my career options after doing an MBA?
3. What about part time part time MS(R)?
Any pointers will be of great help.
Thanks

No one answering this guy? Very tough question, dude. Your getting a good salary. Enjoy. I was also a 2001 pass out from a IIT. And MBA from IIM-A. I would have been happy with 15 L. Job satisfaction is a very rare thing. Unless you are sure what you want to do and really passionate , let things be. At least your making good money.

hey!thanks for your reply but i am in my last year of Bcom ,so will get graduated in 2010 and give my final ca in may 11,
However my question - is my goal to pursue mba from a good institute is realistic or not? I mean do I have "THE APTITUDE ",a bit confused there, as far as attitude is concerned I think I do have that

I will try to answer this one based on my experience (though nothing to boast of)... Excuse me if I sound cliched...

Whatever you are asked in your GD/PI, try to be honest.. Being honest would require you to do some serious introspection into yourself as a person, do a complete SWOT, relate things to your past... Once you start doing all this, you would be in a better position to tackle any question put at you...

If you think you have the 'attitude', I think, you've what it takes to make it to 'Indian Ivy-League' B-Schools.. Regarding the aptitude, it would be wrong for me or anyone to comment on whether you have it (or not).. Be very confident about your choices, and more importantly, never look back!

You would do just well! 😃

APTITUDE can be developed..
everything can be learned since every task has tips/tricks/intricacies..our task is to learn them as fast as we can to master it...
