It depends buddy on how badly you perform ;). By the way what exactly is the situation that you are thinking that Infy will or will not fire?
Hi Palak Mathur, Thanks for your reply.Actually the work is very hectic and I am not able to focus on CAT.As the exam time is approaching I have planned to focus mainly on it and send Infy office work to back seat.I am doing minimum to just save myself.Thats why I had posted the query. In your opinion,if the employee performs below average is he directly fired OR he is just reprimanded and sent to bench or low priority projects.Have you heard of anyone getting fired during probation period for such a reason.
I know I might be sounding nuts but I am really in a dilemma.

If you score a bad CRR rating, then you will be sent on some improvement assignments and even then you don't improve then you may be fired. When I was with Infy, they never fired anyone - only when the person could not clear his Compres and subsequent interviews was he thrown out. Just make sure that you don't test the patience of your manager. Everything else would be fine. Prepare well.
Hello Palak, Thanks for the input. I am on a tight budget and will have to consider the fees to study abroad! UK is out of the question. I was thinking of Australia. But yes, GMAT is the 1st step and i need to crack that. Is it still possible to apply for March intake now?
Regards, Rohan
Check the college websites for which you want to apply to know whether they are accepting the applications or not.

Prepare well. Everything else is fine. Your acads are not bad, it is just your perception that they are bad!! Have confidence in yourself. Score well in entrances and then prepare well for GD/PI. Everything else is fine!! Believe in yourself!!

prabhuji, I assume that you are asking whether these marks are good enough to get into a good B-School.
admission 10th, 12th aur Graduation ke basis par hi nahin hona hai!! There are entrance examinations as well. Prepare for them. Stop thinking about what you have scored till now. Have confidence in yourself.

First crack CAT and do well in GD/PI. You cannot change your marks now, can you? So, don't think about them. Anyways they are good enough to help you crack a good college if you score well in CAT and perform well in GD/PI.
I'm Tejus from Bangalore, currently working with Cognizant.
I have a dream offer as an automotive journalist but am a bit skeptical on the effects it might have on my MBA plans later on. If anyone has made a similar shift (read journalism to MBA), please put down your thoughts on the same.
If you are working in a bank, can you please help post your exp so far in your work.
Wish to know about... How you feel in general? Respect for job by society? What is your daily routine? Present salary? Experience in bank? Is it hard to take 2day leaves every month?

Journalism to MBA - There would be thousands of people who would have done that. Have a look at this profile:

For the perception of the society part, I can be the good person to tell you because I am not the part of a Bank and so I am part of the society and you want to know the respect for job by society.
So, the answer is society respects anyone who earns his bread and butter. Ours is a socialist country, so anyone who works should have the right to eat. So, if you work and earn to eat then you are respected. Coming to the bank job, they are very much respected. Why do you think that society would not respect the Bankers?

I am anvesha pursuing BE IT in a reputed college from Mumbai University.I wish to pursue MBA after graduating.I wished to ask whether the marks scored by a student in first three years of graduation matter for post-MBA placements ?(PS-Mumbai University considers only 4th year marks for issuing graduation marks)
2)Some people say that graduation branch does not make any difference post mba? Is the technical work really very less( esp for marketing profile)

1. Keep BE % 60+ . Mumbai Univ mite be considering only 4th year marks but all the organizations will consider marks of all 4 years. U wont find any HR of any reputed IT/Mkting/Finance company saying that "marks of first 3 yrs are useless, just show final yr marksheet". Remember u will be competing against all India candidates and I dont think such rule exists anywhere else. So count all 4 yrs marks and try to get maximum for good b schhols inspite of wat ur final marksheet states.
2. Usually ( Finance + IT ) makes a good combo for I T companies as well as banks. Wid Marketing, work wont be involving too much technical stuff. However , its true that graduation subjects wont matter much.
