@nole A priori ( adj, adv ) literally means "from before" or something delivered by Logic. In Latin a priori means 창€œwhat comes first.창€? A priori understandings are the assumptions that come before the rest of the assessment, argument, or analysis.
For example If you are making an argument that pre-school children who are read to at home by family members come to school better prepared to learn, the a priori understanding is that children learn by hearing before they are able to read. Eg: But there is no necessity for relying upon a priori reasoning.

while at other hand Assumption (n) means is something that one assume to be the case, even without proof. For example, people might make the assumption you're a nerd if you wear glasses, even though that's not true (your left eye is swollen what may be the case).
Eg ; your assumption that I'd agree was unwarranted.
