Secondly I wanted to have some information on how successful are students in GMBA program to make career shifts. Although I have a strong IT background I would like to explore and work in operations. I know that stream "Operations" is not a part of your curriculum, but I would like to know more about consulting management and Logistics and Supply Chain management. What are the subjects taught in these courses. And what are the profiles offered to people after this course.

Students are generally successful in making the career shifts. The college definitely helps in this regard. But I would still say a fair portion of students go back to IT as business consultants.
Yes, the course is GLSCM and not operations. It generally covers all the important topics and there is also some new courses that are added. So, You get the variety.
The profiles during my time was Warehouse manager, Supply chain manager, Purchasing executive, logistics consultant, Business development manager, etc.

I heard that there are still a few that needs to get placed. But generally I heard that some students did not put the needed effort at the proper time.
The scenario may still be positive or negative during your batch. So, Have a realistic picture in mind before taking a decision as the cost is very high. You will get a job if you want, but the question is will you get the role or salary that you are expecting.
Salary wise, In dubai, the market rate on an average is 11000 AED. You can get higher, but I would say majority of the salary will be in this range.
Instead of asking a school representative, I would suggest you to contact Apr 2012 batch or the current batch to get a realistic idea.
FB and other social media definitely helps in this regard.

The aptitude test conducted by S P Jain is intended to test a student's IQ, mathematical ability, logic and reasoning capacity, English reading and comprehension ability. There is also a section on general knowledge. These questions are intended to test knowledge of current events and normal business awareness. The paper would be divided into different sections based on these areas. The test is for a duration of 1 hour. The test paper consists of around 40 to 45 questions The format of the test may change from time to time but the testing would be on the mentioned parameters. The aptitude test will be a paper based test. There is negative marking - different questions may have a different scale of negative marking, and this would be taken into account while calculating a student's score. We do not have sectional cut offs, we expect the overall score to meet our cut off.
We donot have any sample papers for the test. You can prepare for the test by referring to study material used for CAT & GMAT preparation.
S P Jain very selectively offers scholarships/loans at low interest rates to meritorious and needy students for which a separate application needs to be put in. We cannot comment on your eligibility based on just these details. All scholarship applications will be considered together after the close of admissions. When you submit an application, there are 4 possibilites-
- if shortlisted, you will be called for the next evaluation. A candidate is intimated only when the evaluation date is declared, until then the status is shown as waitlist.
- if you only fall short of the aptitude test requirement, you are called to take the test, here again your status remains waitlist.
- regret, if you donot meet our entry requirements.
- an application could also be waitlisted, in such a case the application is reviewed at regular intervals.

Query for MGB admissions.
It has been a very long time since the 1st batch gave spjat. Even after 50 days of the test, the dates for evaluation are not out. Candidates who have applied in the month of March are still waiting to see if they have been short-listed. Kindly throw some light on the same.
Also, the SP jain Site clearly quotes - Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, i.e., applications will be evaluated as and when these are received. The sooner you apply, the better your chances for being selected.
Is this really valid??
( Because it looks like both 1st April and 13th May spjat batches could be clubbed for evaluation session. )
Also, would the same recruiters come for MGB student placements that come for GMBA?
If we convert the MGB to GMBA degree by additional 6 weeks of training, then can we sit for GMBA placements as well or we would be barred from those placement rounds ?
It has been more than 2 months since the date I have applied and almost 53 days since I took the test.
I hope you would reply something other than - The dates would be out soon !

We are in receipt of your application and on screening the same we find you falling short on some of our admission criteria due to which we have kept you on our waiting list. Periodically (there is no specific time frame for doing so - it is done as and when the need for doing so arises) this list is reviewed and Participants moved to the evaluation process. Please check this website at intervals to ascertain if there has been any change in your admission status.
i have cleared the SPJAT (gave it on May 13th),
I am confused here....out of the 4 possibilities listed ......do i fall in category 1 or 4...
Kindly Clarify....

First of all i wish to advise you that i have received a confirmation that i have met the cut-off limits set by SP Jain for its MGB program.
I have a few questions and would be great if you could answer them.
1.How soon will i hear about my evaluation call from SP Jain.I've never really gone through case interviews before so what is the likely pattern of the interview.
2.I have a good 13 months of work ex from L & T.
3.I was the only entry level candidate to be given an onsite opportunity.No one ever had done something like that.Also i was the youngest person to handle a team of developers.
4.I work as a free lance application developer making applications and deploying them on the Ipad and Iphone environments.
5.Im also part of Teach India,an initiative by Times of India to teach underprivileged children spoken english
6.Talking of acads im an engineer with a distinction and have been in the top 10 of my class in school college and graduate school
Apart from that i have also participated actively in fests and have volunteered a lot as part of college activities.
Im also a fellow from IIT-B and scored a 91% in CAT 2009 and 95 % in CET 2009
What are my chances

It could be either 1 or 4. You will get to know when the evaluation date is declared. If you have been shortlisted for the evaluation, you will be called for the following round. Else, probably your application is on the borderline and will be reviewed again later.

There are no fixed numbers for each specialisation. We only try and ensure that the total strength of the batch does not exceed 200.

The date for the evaluation will be announced on our website shortly. Shortlisted candidates will be informed individually over mail. The evaluation consists on an essay- case study round. Followed by an Interview with the Panel and an interview with the President. These steps will again be reconfirmed when you get the call to register for the evaluation. Your eligibility for the program will only be known post the evaluation.
