                                       Interview Experience

Hello, Everyone, I am an MBA-Energy & Infrastructure Management student at the School of Petroleum Management, PDEU. I am going to share my brief Interview Experience which might help you to ease off with the B-School Interview anxiety.

A lot has changed in the last one year which might affect the Interview procedure at SPM. However, I am going to discuss what I faced during my Interview Experience. Like all B-School, SPM Interview procedure consists of 3 phases i.e., a thorough document check followed by a brief address by Faculty or Dean (Dr. Pramod Paliwal, Dean at SPM addressed us), a written ability test followed by a group discussion and lastly Personal Interview by Faculties/ Alumni/ Industry Experts.

I reached well before the scheduled time and we are provided with the brochure and a list of documents stating the documents needed and the sequence of order. After the comprehensive document check, we were addressed by the Dean Dr. Pramod Paliwal. In the GD round, we were divided into the group of 8 students and asked to write a page or so on the topic later followed by the GD on the same topic. Our topic of discussion was “Online Shopping & its implication concerning the safety aspects”. The discussion was healthy and without any chaos, everyone provided the valuable input and one student summed up the discussion at the end. After talking with the other groups, the other topics of discussion were related to the current events and some general topics.

In the last and the most important round that is Personal Interview, I was the 4th student to be interviewed by that panel. This gap of approximately one hour was full of mixed feeling and I was contemplating on my performance at GD. The interview panel consists of an Industry Expert and a Faculty. The interview started with a brief introduction and my strengths and weaknesses. They asked me about my internship and project I undertook in graduation. After a few basic questions, they asked me why I want to do MBA in Energy & Infrastructure Management. Then they asked my view on the budget and policies of the government in areas of renewables, e-vehicles and road infrastructure. I would like you all to go through the budget in details as many GD topics and question in the interview comes from this part.

I hope this might help you to shed the nervousness and gave you a brief overview of the interview experience at SPM. If you have any query you can post your doubts here or contact the admission cell at SPM.

Sharing the interview experience of one of our batchmate:

8th March 2020

As it was "women's day" I started my interview by greetings one of the panelist (i.e panelist A, as she was our female faculty)

the next thing that I was asked by panelist B to do was the common questions of every interview: "introduce yourself?"

gave introduction about myself for straight 3 to 4 mins including my native place, my family background, my competencies, my acads, and my dreams/goals.

after this there were few follow up questions about my dream and next to it, it was about my academics. moving further there were few questions related to my bachelor's degree, 2-3 common sense questions, few questions for checking my aptitude and my speaking proficiency.

in the end, the interview ended with a question " why MBA and why SPM?"

Inshort I can say that it was a decent light hearted 20-25 mins of interview.
