A number P is increased by 30% and another number Q is decreased by 30% to make them equal. But what percentage is Q greater than P???
=> P" = Q"

=> 1.3 P = 0.7 Q

=> Q = P*(1.3/0.7) = 13P/7.

So, 6/7 = 600/7 = 85.7 %

A certain type of amoeba is able to spilt itself up into 24 amoebae, each of these amoebae are further able to split themselves up into 24 amoebae and so on. However, only 25% of the amoebae are able to do so while the rest die. If the number of amoebae after the 4th such split are 3888. How many amoebae were there at the beginning???
I think it wil be 3...Its in powers of 6...
So it will be 6*6*6*6*a
Where a is initial number....
Unable to calculate...travelling....

A number P is increased by 30% and another number Q is decreased by 30% to make them equal. But what percentage is Q greater than P???
1.3P = .7Q
Q - P/P*100 = (Q - .7/1.3*Q)/(.7/1.3*Q)*100 = 85.71% ?
@jashholmes said:
A number P is increased by 30% and another number Q is decreased by 30% to make them equal. But what percentage is Q greater than P???
85.7%?

(130/100)*P = (70/100)*Q

=> P/Q = 70/130

So,Q is 85.7% greater than P
@jashholmes said:
A number P is increased by 30% and another number Q is decreased by 30% to make them equal. But what percentage is Q greater than P???
1.3P=.7Q
13/7=Q/P

(13-7)/7=(Q-P)/P
(6/7)*100... = 14.28*6=85.68%??
@jashholmes said:
A number P is increased by 30% and another number Q is decreased by 30% to make them equal. But what percentage is Q greater than P???
13P = 7q...
Q = 13p/7
So 600/7%

A number P is increased by 30% and another number Q is decreased by 30% to make them equal. But what percentage is Q greater than P???
130P = 70Q

P/Q = 70/130

70*X% = 50
=> X = 85.xx

=> P" = Q"=> 1.3 P = 0.7 Q=> Q = P*(1.3/0.7) = 13P/7.So, 6/7 = 600/7 = 85.7 %
p=70, q=130
60/130x100=60%
This answer is wrong.....WHY???

1.3p = 0.7q
p/q = 7/13

(13-7)/7 = 6/7 = 1 - 1/7 = 1 - 0.1428 = 0.8572 or 85.72%

P was increased and q was decreased...

130P = 70Q P/Q = 70/130 70*X% = 50 => X = 85.xx
P=130 Q=70Q.P So, 130-70/130x100=60%
This answer is wrong....WHY???

yeah...sry..
P=130 Q=70
Q>P So, 130-70/130x100=60%
This answer is wrong....WHY???

In a town 25% of the population eat rice. Of the remaining 1/3rd eat clean wheat only. Of the remaining 20% eat jowar only in the remaining 112 persons eat bajra only. Find the total number of people in town.???
x/4+x/4+x/10+112=x,x=280?
A car travelling with 5/7 of its usual speed covers 42 km in 1 hr 40 min 48sec What is the usul speed of the car?

x/4 = rice
(x-x/4)*1/3 = x/4 = clean wheat
20*x/200 = x/10 = jowar
x - (x/2+x/10) = 112
x - 3x/5 = 112
2x/5 = 112
x = 280...

1 hour 40 min 48 sec= 1 hour 40+4/5 min = 1 hour 204/5 min = 1+204/300 hour = 504/300 hour
5v/7 *504/300 =42
72v/60=42
6v/5=42
v=35??

35 KM/HR ?

42/5/7*x = 6048/3600
x = 35 km/hr
